Hi, is this something that will be staying going forward? Because it's annoying to have to close all the time. I appreciate advertising your content and videos, but forcing it to stay in the corner as you scroll down unless you manually close it every time is really annoying.

I looked for other comments on this and found none, so if this is some sort of odd glitch I'm experiencing then I apologize. Its only been happening the last few days to me.

Hello!

When you see the video again, please click the error report button (the exclamation mark at the bottom right of your screen). This is so that we may be able to identify the video pop-up/ad or network it's running on.

This is still an ongoing problem. It has been reported here in this forum earlier, and I have done the report feature a couple of times.

A pop-up ad will appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen, It will also have a timer on it.
A pop-up ad banner will also appear on the bottom center of the screen. It does not have a timer on it.
When you change to a new page, both pop-ups will appear anew again.

This will happen on every page you go to. Every time.

If you are not getting a lot of complaints about this, then it is probably people believing this is a feature of the ad supported ANN website or there is some arcane technical issue that only affects a few people. I use google chrome as my main browser.

If this is the new normal for the ad supported ANN website side, then let us know so we can stop bothering you; but if it is not, it is an invasive detriment to using your web site.

I can confirm that this problem has been happening for a few months now and is really annoying.

Question 1, are you seeing these popups on the home page? ( www.animenewsnetwork.com/ )

Any one getting these popups, could you go to these pages and tell me which ones give the popups:

1: animenewsnetwork.com/.211531?now_testing_ads=kiosked
2: animenewsnetwork.com/?now_testing_banner_id=9985
3: animenewsnetwork.com/?now_testing_banner_id=9980

Only the second link you posted didn't give me popups, which is strange as I've gotten them on reviews before. To clarify it's almost every page on the site that I see popups on.

As of today I'm getting an "Ad 1 of 2" on every page before the ANN content video plays. Walmart, Semrush, Clover Leaf, and People's jeweler so far.

Hi,

So it turns out that this is the ANN Video Player, which does play ads.
We designed this to be an overlay as you scroll down the page. This is by design, and I apologize to those of you who do not like it.

A few days ago I asked the dev team to create a subscriber only option to disable the player. I'm also looking into disabling ads inside it for subscribers, but right now the only option is Player Off, or Player on with ads.

For non subscribers it's simply part of the site now.

We did get one report of the player being wider than the sidebar (ie: 300 pixels). If anyone sees it wider than our sidebar, please let me know.

Chris

It is. When the browser is narrowed (mine maxes at 1920p wide), the sidebar gets narrower to keep the stuff in the center (ie the forum) constant. The video player stays the same size so it overlaps onto the center. Actually, I notice that the sidebar will default to the LEFT side only if the browser width goes below a certain point. But the player defaults to the RIGHT side.

Sometimes the player overlay stays on the right hand side bar, but most of the time it is far larger. And in conjunction with the bottom ad banner and the fact that both ad blocks appear on everything single page you go to, make it a pain.

I am an old ANN reader, so I am just going to live with it, but if the ad player in the right hand corner just behaved it wouldn't be that bad. I am just worried that new users and visitors might be turned off by the current ad structure. Hopefully, you will be able to fine tune that ad player.

The video player is horrific. You should not be trying to emulate Fandom (formerly known as Wikia, only staying alive through 13-year-olds).

I don't know anything about that, but the upper right ad block, sometimes works correctly as it is intended to work, but a lot of the time it doesn't. They just have to fine tune it and work the kinks out.

Right now on this visit, it is working fine and staying in its corner.

For me the video pop-up always blocks part of the Forum text or article. Using Firefox Browser 127.0.1.
