Aoi Todo??? LOL. Let’s hope he doesn’t get beanballed like his delusional, sorcerer counterpart. I’m a little surprised that Mappa is still in charge of the anime adaptation; it’s been so long since they did that one episode that I kind of thought another studio would’ve picked up any new adaptation.

I wonder how popular this manga is (I remember a little buzz going on around the manga just before the Mappa showcase in 2020/2021, but nothing since then). How much pressure is there on Mappa to make this “high-quality” (for want of a better word)? Do sports anime usually have action directors? And of such caliber that WIT’s AOT action director tweets about being excited to see their work? Was Re-MAIN (Mappa’s last sports anime, I think) well “animated”?

Mix S2 also had action animation directors, though it's in a weird position. It's kinda popular in Japan but the second season was mostly outsourced.

No one at MAPPA is ever allowed to sleep.
Man, if someone told me there was an anime called "OBLIVION BATTERY" I'd guess it was an edgy late-90's style mecha series. I do like how there's just a subgenre of sports manga whose titles consist of random words thrown together.
"I have an idea for a manga called Robot X Laserbeam. It's about golf."
"That makes no sense at all. Welcome to the front cover of Shonen Jump."

I worry for the MAPPA animators.
Also Mamoru Miyano playing the character he always plays in these kinds of shows.

Action animation directors have been used semi-commonly in core staff credits of sports anime before and it's not really a shock for me to see such credits. And Tatenaka himself is a sports anime veteran for over a decade, even publishing an art book showcasing it.

Let's hope that there won't be production issues like it was with JJK season 2.
