Maybe wait until we see who's gonna be the writer...
With Chad & MAPPA on board, it might at least look cool.

Credit where it’s due, Toonami staff clearly revere Watanabe (a few months back Jason DeMarco was fervently defending Space Dandy from Watanabe’s own disappointment with the end result), but they don’t try to force him to just retread what he’s done in the past. It’s clear that reverence means he gets to do different things.

AS has a horrid track record so that alone makes me wary but as much as I love Watanabe, the plot honestly doesn't sound very interesting. I've personally had enough "we need to hurry and make a vaccine!" in the real world, it's not something I want to see an anime about

Space dandy was great and refreshing. The clear disappointment was financially. The anime was both not that raunchy for adult swim, yet too much for cartoon network. The whole aspect of the girls was also a kicker. I feel the marketing and placement was also bad. The show only aired on CN, which limited distribution, but the show also aired in america first, which, while different, as probably more difficult with a potential japanese audience. Finally, I feel the audience who would like space dandy the most probably wasn't watching most of the anime on toonami(mostly Shonen action comedies). Space dandy is also much more comedic than bebop and Champloo before it.

Watanabe has been on a string of fumbles since the very first MAPPA show, made for AS anime is another huge ? and the comic is just ok but the potential is there. Is Watanabe directing though?
He didn´t do his last AS show and said himself that Black Lotus´ producing credit was hot air. As was his credit on Netflix Bebop. I want a big W for all involved here.

Excuse me? I can understand what you mean about Black Lotus, but how the hell are Space Dandy, Zankyou no Terror, and Carole & Tuesday "fumbles"?

Fair, calling C&T a fumble doesn't describe how truly awful that show was. It pretty much destroyed Watanabe's legacy for a huge amount of people in the anime community.

Unless this is purely online, I seriously doubt a "huge" amount of the anime community had the legacy destroyed(what does that even mean?). The worst thing I heard were people mad politics were in the anime.

What are you talking about? Carole & Tuesday was excellent.

I personally take Black Lotus anytime over C&T. It was a simple straightforward sci-fi action with great action sequences. While C&T was really bad plotwise.

Yeah, nah, Black Lotus was trash. Easily one of the most boring anime I've ever watched.

I don't know why people are bringing Black Lotus into the conversation when Watanabe only had a production credit on it. Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama were the actual directors of it.
And yeah, Carole & Tuesday was great, with a fantastic soundtrack to boot. The Mermaid Sisters still live rent-free in my head.

Oh no, anyone but Sola. While they can create some pretty kick-ass animation (Appleseed Alpha was for the most part great), they really missed the mark with the last GiTs series. I just hope they focus a bit more on the characters and don't have that weird doofy style to them.
