Inflation brings out its ugly face and has officially forced this.. I knew with everything going up that this would be no exception… (sigh)

It's just $2 for novelty entertainment books you can read for cheaper online. It's not like everything you eat exponentially increasing to the point where it's becoming unstainable. Chill out.

Ouch... Figured it'd be a matter of time, but at the same point, still sucks. Loved that Viz was the cheapest of the manga publishers, especially since most of my series are published under Viz. But it is what it is. It's sad, but it's not as thought it'll be stopping me from buying from them. I'll just need to adjust my budget, is all.
Although, not sure how accurate the pricing is as listed in the article. Last I had bought a Kodansha manga, the price was $10.99. Viz's new price would end up making them more costly than Kodansha, although still less than Yen Press or Seven Seas (typically $12.99). But the last Kodansha book I bought was CCS: Clear Card Vol. 9, so mayhaps the prices had increased but I hadn't noticed or it also depends on series like what seems to be the norm. |

Viz's Shonen Jump titles are such extreme crap quality.

It looks like the updated prices are already reflected on RightStuf. Viz manga with a release date in January or later has the price bump. It looks like existing volumes will either keep the same price or won't see the bump until January or their next reprint after January.

I've seen some talk about this potentially coming up from fans who follow manga news much more closely than I and yeah... considering how long Viz held out when most of their competitors have had to raise prices - I'm not really too surprised. I imagine it will go into effect for past volumes around Jan, although unsure if that means box set prices for series that house these volumes will also go up as well?

Not only are they double the price of their Japanese counterparts, but they are worse quality too.

Looks like I definitely need to keep an eye out at Wal-Mart to keep my Komi Can't Communicate collection going.

I thought that series has already been completed? If it has been finished here the new books will not see a n increase for the books. And you should albe to buy the copies out there for the price that is already listed. It sucks that i is going up but i understand why. |

Nope, Komi is still going strong... Vol. 25 just hit print in the US last week, and per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Komi_Can%27t_Communicate_chapters, Vol 28 hits here 1/9/20024, with Vol 29 to follow a few months later... so Komi will be hit by the price increase as of Vol 28... but of course I'll keep buying it, I love it so much... I need to get Vol 25 soon... |
