Absolutely abhorrent and shameful behavior. I'm very disappointed, disgusted and furious. He must face the consequences of his actions and needs to go to rehab. My heart goes out to the victims and I thank them for speaking up and I hope they get the support they need. Hoyo needs to recast his character Tighnari and re-record all his lines with a new actor as soon as possible.

Give me some of that lol.

On topic, despite all of this Genshin's sales haven't changed and people are still pushing for others to jump on the game.

Yeah, I've read about the stuff going on with this, and his actions are absolutely reprehensible. And before anybody dares to claim "But there's no actual evidence!" There is an actual GoogleDoc document made by the moderator of a (Now shut down) Discord server that Gindi himself made that documents and details text messages from the victims, several of which were sent by Gindi himself. The link to said Tweet and document can be found here. This isn't something anybody can just make up on a whim, and according to some actors he worked with, he even admitted to some while denying others, trying to rope other actors into his manipulation by trying to make them seem complicit when they actually weren't.

And pray tell how exactly does this give Genshin a black mark? The offender is the voice actor not the game. And as for this 'gentleman', expect him to be out of a job shortly unless miHoYo are totally tone-deaf..

Just as a side note; Tighnari, the character Elliot plays in Genshin, his most well-known voiceline is "What are they going to do? Lock me up?"

I hope the irony isn't lost on him.

I was today years old when I found that so many voice actors I've listened to from anime dubs voice characters in Genshin Impact. I know I shouldn't be surprised that anime dub actors would have roles in video games, but I guess I was surprised at how many take part in voiceover for the game. Makes it pretty interesting for when the "animated adaptation" comes out and seeing who will reprise their roles for it.

That said I've never heard of Elliot Gindi before today, I was even surprised to see that he has a page on this website's encyclopedia.

Assuming what is written here is true (and it's unlikely it was fabricated).... why go on Twitter instead of a court?

The fact this dude approached Corrina (who is on the spectrum) when they have limited history together is weird. Seems like he targeted mostly kids who are neurodivergent so it just looks like he targeted a peer he felt he could easily gaslight. Piece of crap.

Who says they can’t do both? Some victims are just now opening up. I don’t think it’s fair to expect them to immediately want to go through a traumatic trial.

Because you don't hand over evidence of misconduct to a court. You give that to the proper local, state or federal authorities. Additionally it's because it's much quicker for twitter outrage to result in action than the Justice system sadly.

You can still probably expect to see more from this on a legal front.

That's really sad to hear since Tighnari is my second
main, just behind Wanderer/Scaramouche and Venti. =(

As mentioned in the article MiHoYo responded to an inquiry by Kotaku that "Both our internal teams and external partners including our voice acting studio have been working together on an urgent solution."

Looking at the chatter in the fanbase, MiHoYo actually went through a similar rodeo with the CN VA for Oz a while back. Apparently Oz was rendered silent in the CN voice track for a time while they found a replacement.

It feels unlikely that Tighnari will go through the same "mute" period due to his being a significantly larger role than Oz, but Elliot's eventual replacement seems pretty certain.

But I think it's better to have the legal system handle this, not the internet mob, regardless of how lowly a human being is (and this person seems on the very low end of the scale).

In an ideal world yes leaving certain issues to the legal system would be best but as I’m pretty sure you’re aware that’s not a foolproof solution. As courts can get stuff wrong sometimes through and through no fault of the judge, prosecution, defense, or the jury.

There’s also the fact that in case people need a refresher given the myriad of bad takes involving the Vic Mignogna thing depending on the act certain things are not handled by courts.
