Police will be opening quite a can of worms if they start investigating the company... the level of shadiness on recent Square Enix activities is almost unprecedented. It's almost like someone in there is liquidating the company's most valuable assets for crypto, NFTs and other ponzi schemes and scams. Insider trading pales in comparison.

Smart move making that kind of play... on a mobile game that will be shut down soon most likely.

SE has been shady lately also weird, like why are they developing a new Front Mission 2089 game when the full version of one of the prequels (2089-II) is still lost media and should've been sent to G-Mode for porting and rerelease (as it's a feature phone game).

By "someone" we can just mean Matsuda himself, right?
Cause c'mon, he's barely hiding how badly he as CEO and his team mismanaged things for years, from the crazy assignments of people to projects without their actual knowledge, completely zero marketing to lots of games which lead to their poor sales, exclusivity deals without the actual profits from them to Square itself because it negated sales, and selling their valuable assets for very cheap (like IO Interactive, which become independent and now getting quite well without Square) because of the recent budget flops — despite it's not really all just developers fault and Square still shoot themselves in the foot with GaaS, but now with Japanese teams. Even Wada, whose stepping off was mostly because he (like a lot of people during that time) thought that spending money on cloud gaming services was good and obviously failed with a big hole in Square profits (it's still not even with big tech companies barging in, looking at you Google Stadia and Amazon Luna), was not that bad as the guy whose current "achievements" leads Square straight to the abyss.

Can I say surprised or expected or karma? Yuji Naka was also arrested for the same reasons. Funny because Naka sued SE (which concluded earlier this year) for removing him as director of Balan Wonderworld 6 months before its March release, but he had already bought shares earlier in January 2020 (2 months after the other employee).

I guess Balan Wonderland is now the second worst thing he's done.

A real plot twist after his issues with Arzest and Ohshima-san.

Real glad we got the news that Yuji Naka was involved much later, since now we have multiple posts here pointlessly crying about SE for posterity.

Only 3 years at Square Enix and he went from Game Programmer/Director to Gordon Gekko.

Not that it's going to stop the narrative.

The third-worst thing he did was actually namely it “Balan Wonderworld” when “Wonderland” obviously scans so much better.
