really? i always thought that high school dxd set the standards when it came to over the top ecchi/fanservice type series! also so far, harem in the labyrinth of another world isn't there yet as a porn wannabe for those honors went to redo and worlds end. especially in redo's case which seriously pushed it line i haven't seen since the infamous days of the 90s anime like mad bull 34, ninja scroll and knights of lamunes. |

Episode 4 makes me sad that we can't get actual hentai animated this well these days.

A reccuring joke is how ecchi anime has better animated boobs than hentai does. Not that all hentai is poorly animated, but it's sadly a lot more niche and doesn't get as big of a budget. Hopefully this episode sated people's desires for the ecchi content after complaining about the lack of it for the first three episodes. |

I think that's not a small part of the reason these "hard-core ecchi" shows are gaining more traction and escalating in the content they show. Makes me feel like we've gone backwards and forwards at the same time. |

Well, no surprise the episode with actual sex would be the most censored.
I did find Roxanne's enthusiasm and seriousness when it comes to dungeon-crawling and their gear quite charming. |

I'm not sure how recent that is. OVAs like Kite and Mezzo Forte were a step above the average quality of hentai sex scenes in the 90s specifically because their sex scenes were added in to regular series rather than initially hentai. There has been plenty of low budget hentai since the genre debuted. On average I would say anything done by Pink Pineapple is better animated than the majority of stuff from the 90s. |

Why is everyone talking about censorship and BDs? If you're already paying for your subscription, don't feel bad about looking elsewhere for the uncensored version. Aside from being pointless to watch an episode focused on boobs and sex and not see anything, it's not that hard to find.

I'm talking about actual broadcast anime, not OVAs. OVAs exist in a different set of circumstances in regards to their episode budget and the content they show. |

Im just gonna go on a limb and assume all of the reviews for this series are gonna be extremely negative. Why is this series even getting weekly reviews if the reviewer really really doesn't wanna sit through this show?

Because readers voted for them. And there's nothing wrong with giving a show bad reviews. |

I really don't see a contradiction there: Why precisely should he be interested in the backstory of his slave? He bought her because he needed someone to watch his back in the dungeon and to be his sexual outlet at night. He's also cagey about sharing his own origins of course, so arguably there's also an unconscious avoidance of the general topic. Sure, it's not great for developing her as a character. But I think it's realistic, and it's part of why I like the books. No inexplicable romance between a woman and her enslaver, no contrived reason why it's OK for the hero to keep a slave without compromising his morals - much less a harem of them. Just simple, benign exploitation. Of course, it's because this story lacks those justifications to the audience for why they should accept his actions that I continue to be puzzled why it was picked for adaptation... I was under the impression that people generally didn't like to be reminded that they're mostly shit. |

I don't think it is a coincidence, to the japanese privacy is king, so much that it has been enshrined into law. This is something that has can be seen in lots of animes, old and new, when in a western show people will blurt out about their motivations, their past and everything else with little to no proding, in anime they will think about all of the above (so the viewers gets the infodump) but rarely tell (probably by the end of the series or when their respective arc begins and hopefully said character wont die) anyone else. So yeah, he might own her body, but telling her to blurt her backstory without no real reason would be regarded as beyond rude by the japanese audience, let's keep this working relationship professional. |
