Well, he sounds solid as Draken at least. I guess Suzuki's still got Ban.
Also advertising characters who are dead and or in juvie is...a choice.

I thought they'd maybe reverse the decision to replace Suzuki now that he's back at work, but instead they're even replacing his voice in the first season? Jeez, it's not like he's committed a crime.

Yeah, the industry is living in the past. It is not okay to cancel people for silly things.

and I thought doing drugs in japan would warrant that...
Suzuki must be feeling extra hurt that he's being replaced with a guy who is mostly "Man B" in his résumé...

I mean, I don't know if cheating on your partner deserves losing your job but calling infidelity "silly"... BRUH.

It wasn’t just infidelity, a reminder.
He was reported to have leaked an unreleased song to the fan who was his lover, before its reveal

I've been noticing it's been a thing now where production companies will retroactively replace someone's voice. An example is Ensemble Stars: Yoshimasa Hosoya used to be the voice of Hokuto but when he went on hiatus for health reasons, he was replaced by Tomoaki Maeno... Maeno had to rerecord previous lines and now the franchise acts as though Hosoya was never part of it. I guess it's probably a strategy for character marketing?

I'm Enterprise alredy state that that was a false accusation.
Truth be told, Masaya sounds very close to Tattsun. It'll not be the same, but at least we'll have something alike, I suppose...

Thanks, I don't follow the Ensemble Stars franchise, so I wasn't aware that there was a precedent for this kind of thing.

I feel like it's more for consistency than anything. Hosoya wasn't gonna be able to be in the series for a while, they replaced him and rerecorded his lines for consistency.
In the same vein, Suzuki won't be playing Draken from now on so they replaced him and are redubbing season 1 for consistency.

Yes, it's for consistency, more than anything, and to avoid awkward situations re: the new person having to deal with scenes, songs, etc. that they never actually recorded, having flashbacks/etc. feel weird because people expect one voice but hear another, etc. Also it's easier for newcomers to the franchise. In this case, it seems to me that they held out until they could with Doraken, but they needed to move on with marketing and whatnot to prepare for the next season, so they decided to move on without Suzuki. (Remember, they announced they'd replace Suzuki way back in last December, now they only announced the new guy).
As a reverse, there's for example when Nojima Kenji replaced Kamiya Hiroshi as Takemoto in Honey & Clover when Kamiya had an accident before recording the very last episode of season two. It aired with Nojima's performance, but for the DVD they already have Kamiya, with no mention of Nojima whatsoever. (Which makes perfect sense, of course, but it's a bit of a pity that they didn't include Nojima's take as an alternate, because, having watched the episode when it aired, I thought Nojima actually did a really good job with Takemoto, considering the circumstances, and would have been interesting to directly compare him with Kamiya.)

He might not be very well known, but he can imitate Tatsu "deep voice" quite well. In the Netflix series DOTA anime JP VO, Suzuki plays the protagonist in the first season, but got replaced by him in the 2nd season and honestly he sounds pretty similar to his predecessor.
Still, it's quite a shame that Tatsu loses his role on a quite popular character. First it was Anos, and now Draken... I hope he still keep his Ban, Alan, and (especially) Noctis. If they were to bring back FFXV for a future installment (knowing SE they probably would). Because I'm going to be super sad if he lose that one as well..
