Yeah, I wanted to like this more than I did, and had it been longer, developed more of its cast, and thrown in some moments of levity, it might have been good or great. I also felt it seemed way too morose and edgy for most of its run time.

I cannot help but feel that the review is as truncated as the series is.....

I dunno if I'd call this a 'romance'. Fine was in love with the the original human that died and maybe was in love with Momo as a replacement but it definitely was a one way attraction. Which is good since, you know, Momo is 14.

I'd like to say this was good, but I think it's best described as subpar. Not really bad - nothing I can complain about too much. But a lot of things in it just miss the mark. I just barely cared about any of these characters - the hook should've been there in the first episode (the show has no time to waste). But without really asking me to invest, I'm fairly certain if it was longer I'd probably have dropped the show. Just another flavor of vampire story that won't stand out and will likely be forgotten.

I wouldn't have believed this if it wasn't stated in the show itself. It really baffles me, because nothing about who she is and what she does suggests she's that young.
Which makes it extra awkward that I definitely felt the attraction went both ways.

I can't believe anyone would call this gay when the (horrible) ending has one woman die and the other has kids with a man.

Eh, the stinger doesn't show anything indicating that Momo actually got married or had kids. Sure, she's seen holding a vampire baby, but nothing says that it's specifically hers.

I talked about this on the podcast, but sadly that specific ending is common in S-class yuri stories, or at least it was earlier in the genre's history. If you look at manga like Claudine or Shiroi Heya no Futari, they have similar tragic endings that lead one of the characters to settle down in a "traditional" relationship.

So the human government is using child soldiers ─ that's just great.

I mean Fine was absolutely, undeniably gay.
And all we see of Momo in the end is her holding a vampire baby. Given she doesn't look much older here, my first assumption was that it actually wasn't hers. We don't see her with any man.

I'm not sure the series needed more episodes - maybe one or two, but they wasted the time they had in few places. I don't care about the village and think it should be cut down, and despite the time in the spotlight I only cared about Momo as Fine's partner, she was bland character on her own.
Also, I agree that there was nothing to suggest the kid was Momo's. It was clearly traditional doomed "lovers from different worlds" story from the first episode, Titanic also had one of the leads dead after all, so I don't agree this was somehow homophobic that Fine died, even if I agree it would be better if they found a way for her to live - but I don't see her staying with Momo anyway, she was both 14 and only started as a replacement for her first love, they could be at most sisters which would still remove the gayness from ending
