One quick correction: Yoshida wasn’t involved in A la Mode. Ikumi did both the art and writing for that one.

This is very sad and shocking news. TMM was my first ever subbed anime and has remained very dear to me for over 15 years. I’m glad Ikumi at least got to finish the new material for the reprints, but it’s very sad to know that it will be her last work.

It's really tragic that she passed before the new anime was released, and that will definitely put the show in a different light for the fans and even the staff. I wish the best for her family.

Oh. That's sad. And,just before the new anime based on her manga's going to appear. I don't know how she felt about what happened to the anime in America but I remember seeing "Mew Mew Power." It wasn't too bad. All in all,it's sad that she's not even going to see it. She really deserved to be here longer.

RIP Ms. Ikumi. You deserved better than this. Sad

Tokyo Mew Mew is one of my favorite magical girl series and I always loved the art so much. It's so sad Ikumi-sensei passed away and so soon before the new anime came out. Thank you for all you did for such a special magical girl series that meant a lot to so many fans.

Just awful news. TMM was one of the manga that really cemented my love of magical girl series, after being introduced to the tropes through Sailor Moon, Rayearth, and CCS. I bought all the Tokyopop volumes brand new as they came out and they've been a proud part of my collection for coming up on two decades now.

Her art was so cute. I'm so sad that she won't get to see the new editions or series. Rest in peace.

May she rest in peace. I hope her family are holding up okay - I know what it’s like to suddenly lose a loved one to a brain haemorrhage.

I still remember the confused look on my ICT teacher’s face some 14-ish years ago when I told her that the copy of Tokyo Mew Mew volume 1 she found after class - with the heart-filled pink cover featuring Mew Ichigo - was mine. Her art was cute and it popped out. A real talent.

Tokyo Mew Mew was one of my first magical girl series as a kid, after Shugo Chara!
It’s sad that Ikumi-Sensei had to passed away like that.

I am speechless...

Ikumi-sensei was a huge part of my childhood. At the very least we can know she accomplished a lot during her lifetime and reached the hearts of many. Rest in peace, Sensei.

Oh my God! This is just awful! Tokyo Mew Mew has been a significant part of my later childhood, so it'll always have sentimental value to me and many others. It's so sad that she's gone so soon. May she rest in peace. Crying or Very sad
