Just a small correction. His surname is Boric and Font is his second surname (his mother's surname), therefore, he should be referred to as Boric and not Font. The article makes it look like Boric is his middle name, which is not the case.

I've gotta admit it. Giving the new president of Chile a cute pokemon is a good way to ingratiate yourself with the new administration. It's so odd to believe that anime has such a strong hold in South America,especially in places where there are hardly any Japanese there,like in Chile. Also,I'd like to ask for a correction. I noticed that in one place,it's "the Santiago." Shouldn't it be just Santiago?
