I am thinking about getting it. I don't know much detail but it's $20 per month and they have nearly 500 anime DVD.
My basic understanding is that you order your anime on-line, they will send them to you, you watch it, you return it. Once they have the anime you send them, they will deliver the next batch. I believe shipping and handling is paid by NetFlix. All you pay is $20 a month. Does anyone has NetFlix? IF you do, can you educate the rest of us on how it works? And about how many movies/DVD can you get from NetFlix in a month? How long does it take for it to arrive? How many DVD do you watch per month from netflix? Okay, just did some research, here is what I found: -up to 3 DVDS, -postage and mail is free -70% of the people will get it within one day. The rest can receive it in 1-3 days. -$20 a month without taxes -no late fee So in a month you can watch about 30 DVD (assume that each month you send 3 DVDs back 10 times). If someone is using NetFlix, can you let me know how many DVD were you able to watch each month through NetFlix? IS this worth it? Is the service good/dependable? Will they screw you with hidden charges? |

I use netflix, well, technically my whole family does. Anyway, if you send the dvds back as soon as you're done watching them, and you get the three dvd thing at a time *this is the one I have* you get... well, about 3 dvds a week depending on the shipping. Lucky for me I get good shipping. I bet if you live closer to netflix it's faster. Anyway, I've gotten a nice amount of anime through it, even though I have to fight with my brother over the queue list. My only complaint is they do not have fruits basket. They have an ok selection, but it seems to only be targeted at certian companies/and or titles. They're getting better though, and I think it's a great deal price wise.
But anyway, I think I made that one big mess. I'll just post some facts on my experiance with them: I get 3 dvds a week, and this is pretty much if I ship the dvds out as soon as I watch them. The dvds don't always come together, and I find it nice if you always have one in the mail coming. You do not have to pay for shipping. The monthly fee covers it all. You order your selection from the site online on a queue list. If they don't have the current dvd in, they'll send you the next selection on your list. The only time I've had to wait so far was for an Utena dvd. The skipping in my experience doesn't happen too often. And umm... only thing left to say I guess is they send the dvds in these red envelops, and that if you loose the envelope to send back, you can put 2 dvds together in the next envelope you get. |

If you're looking for mostly anime titles, GreenCine has a better selection than Netflix.
http://www.greencine.com/main It's pretty much the same deal, but there's no mainstream films. |

Netflix also a plan where you can rent 8 dvds a month for $40.00. I originally planned on using Netflix for anime, but I soon realized that I had seen almost everyone of their anime titles (and the ones I hadn't seen I had no interest in seeing). I mainly use it to view Hong Kong/martial arts films, TV series (24!) and anything else I can't afford to buy

Although greencine does have a really massive collection, I also found that I had to wait a long long time for certain titles..... easily 2-4 weeks for some.
If you are just getting into anime and want to check a lot of the more common shows, I'd say use Netflix first, as they seem to have a larger supply of the titles that they do have. If you are a "veteran" and have seen all the shows like NGE, Utena, Trigun... and movies like GITS, Akira, Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies, etc. ... then I'd say use Greencine as they have all sorts of mildly obscure stuff. The only thing is it has to have been released in the states. But yeah, greencine had stuff like Haibani Renmei, Please Save My Earth, Infinite Ryvius, etc. long before other places, IMO, so it does have a really great selection. As for price, they're just about the same |

I've been looking into it alot and I want to get it. But I'm gonna wait till summer to sign up. It seems like a good deal to me, since all the movie rental places don't carry anime.

I cannot believe that you posted this less than 24 hrs after we signed up for Netflix. We debated and debated and debated it.... Now I want to get this service instead. Thank goodness for the free trial period.

WOW. I never knew Greencine existed. I bet a lot of you people don't either. It's even better than netflix. However, I guess they don't spend as much in marketing as netflix because I seen the netflix commerical on TV but only heard of Greencine today.
How about a CinemaNow.com for anime. p.s. Cinemanow.com is a internet video-on-demand where you download or stream movies for a price or a subscription base. Either $99.99 or 49.99 for a yearly pass but fast-internet connection is required. However, they only have Spirited Away as the sole anime. Iron Giant and Finding Nemo are the other good products in the animation category. |

What about Wal-Mart's DVD Rental Program? They have 200 Anime DVD's for rent, for only $15.49 a month if I remember right. Anyone used this yet? If so, how good is it as far as delivery and the like?

Nextflix and Greencine seem to be nice ways of previewing anime compared to the small video collection at Blockbuster or wherever. Has anyone purchased their anime DVDs after watching them? I was just wondering in what their used prices are like or just wait for a place like Rightstuf to have their sale.

Considering the shape the DVD's come in, I would think it would be better to get them from another source. For netflix, I'd say half of the DVD's have a pause or a skip at some point. Considering that, I would be hesitant to buy their used copies.

Wow. Yet another person who had never heard of this before. I did try out NetFlix for the free trial period, but was disappointed on their selection (i had seen most of what they had already). Maybe I'll give online rentals another try with this...

my cousin lives in downtown Portland and he doesnt have the time or the money to run to the video store so he uses NetFlix. He isnt a hard core anime fan (neither am i) but every once and a while he will get and anime film.

I use netflix for anime... Iv'e gotten all of the inuyasha dvd's so far. They don't have any excel saga, and that pissed me off...
