For those wondering why its DVDs and not Blu-Rays, Its because that Tsuburaya has yet to give The Ultraman and 80 a BD release in Japan.

The star design makes me always confuse Ultraman Joenus from this show with Ultraman Scott from Ultraman USA. The fact that both shows have multiple Ultras, including a female, and that I'm only just recently getting into the Ultra Series doesn't make them easier to tell apart...

Well that, and I was told that Ultraman 80 HD is currently being re-broadcasted on Japanese terrestrial TV (well this is what I was being told on another forum), hence why there hasn't been any blu-ray release in Japan. So Ultraman 80 does have HD material (and I assumed restored) for a future blu-ray release in Japan (and hopefully for the US). For The Ultraman anime, I take it that no HD material exist, am I correct? Did anybody watch the show on TOKU back in 2018? It wasn't broadcasted in HD was it? But still, I'm thinking about holding off on Ultraman 80 DVDs to wait until the HD material find it's way into blu-ray in the near future. I'm kind of surprised that Mill Creek didn't think or thought of using SD-BD like Discotek and Sentai does for the Ultraman anime. It's easier and cheaper then using 10-15 DVDs (a 50 episodes anime TV series would require more then 5 DVDs) in one big case. The Ultraman anime series probably would work better as a SD-BD rather then a 5+ DVD in one big case. |

Nope. It was in SD. It also had abysmal subtitle quality, which I assume they're sprucing up for this release. |
