I would SO back this if I could! The Valis games for PC-Engine were great and had KILLER soundtracks!

No, it's not a shame, not a shame at all! The Valis X games tainted the franchise terribly and may had been the direct result of why the franchise quietly died off. The mere FACT that there is a crowdfunding campaign to get the games re-released on Switch is the first sign of hope for the property in years! I'm GLAD this is happening! Yuko may be a bikini-clad, sword-swinging waifu, but she was a strong-willed warrior to the end and that's what I loved about this series.

Could be interesting, my guess is it would be based on the PC Engine versions for the main 4 but it would be interesting if they try to do the others, many of which are very different. Btw Valis X didn’t kill the series, it was long dead by time that crap came out, let’s pretend that never existed lol.

That would be preferable. The PC Engine versions were the superior versions of all the games, as is generally the case when it comes to PC Engine VS SNES/Genesis like Rondo of Blood.

And I agree. Valis as a franchise was dead long before X came out. X was a 20th anniversary project and, if anything, a Hail Mary attempt to drum up interest and revive the series again.

To be fair, nobody knows the exact reason why the franchise was killed off. Sure, there weren't any new Valis games after the PC-Engine releases but I suspect that the fandom would've still had been around enough to keep the memory of the franchise alive possibly to the point that a new game could've been considered. After Valis X, well...that all went to pot.
