What's the difference between "chief creative officer" and "creative director"?

In case of Sega, I'd say their Creative Directors are unit leads. Each unit handling the development of a certain project, e.g. a game. A CCO is the head of all (Executive) Creative Directors and the top dog of the creative department in a company. Coming from someone working as a Senior Copywriter in an ad agency, it should go something like this: Trainee > Junior > Professional > Senior > CD > E(xecutive)CD > CCO. So in Toshihiro Nagoshi's case, he will be taking an active role in the actual creation. Yes, it's a step down, but maybe he wanted to be "back in action" again (?) |
