Maybe it will be something amazing like Devilman Crybaby, Maybe it be like those other 2000s Getter OVAs that were fun but mostly standard super robot shenanigans and maybe it will be a interesting failure like Shin Mazinger Z.
But now at least, Getter can finally get new material for Super Robot Wars.

Hrrrmmm. Sort of interesting considering there's never really been a direct adaptation of the manga material, and I do wonder what they'll do about an ending since, as mentioned, Ark went unfinished due to Ishikawa's death. But admittedly, as ever, I have a hard time being excited about stiff CG robots.

Oh dang, this just reminded me that I need to find a way to read all the manga.

Was joking about how we'd never get rid of Z2 Heats with a friend talking about SRW yesterday. Woke up in a sweat to this.

Crybaby had its highs but it also had really bad lows. The Jinimen arc was awful and that was one of the most memorable sequences in the manga for the sheer horror. Its telling that 009 vs Devilman executed it better.
Given that this is an adaption of the latter Getter stuff, if its done well, they'll probably going to have a bit of cosmic horror. I am curious if it'll be 1:1 (in terms of references) or if they'll try and change it to be more stand alone like how SvN was a pastiche of Go.

This is the good stuff and not those battle shounen that we have these days with boring pretty boys to attract fujoshis.
Long live Super Robots.

For a CG robot it is deceptive when it isn't moving.
Nice to have a 'super' robot back on TV. How much odd baggage will there be?

This is unexpected, now if only someone(looking at you Discotek) would license the original Getter Robo, Getter Robo G, and Getter Robo Go.

At the point in production of a Mecha/Super Robot Anime where you start talking about having them done in CG, just cancel the whole thing right there. It's bad enough with Mecha, but with Super Robots, that are about being stylish more dynamic, this just kills it.

There's an organic quality to Ishikawa's lines and design work that makes it particularly unsuited to CG. Really high-quality computer animation could probably capture it fine, but high-quality CG isn't exactly the norm for anime.
I'm interested to see what they do about the ending, but I'd honestly prefer a manga-accurate adaptation of Getter Robo Go.
