That this is sudden and unexpected is an understatement; I had just turned in an article to him and was in the process of doing another when I heard the news yesterday. It feels odd to use this phrase when talking about someone the same age as me, but rest in peace, Zac; you gave me my first paid anime reviewing gig all those years ago and let me be a guest on ANNCast no less than twenty times.

Why is it the nicest people seem to leave us far too early??
RIP Zac and condolences to your family. Your extended anime family will miss you greatly.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Zac was amazing in everything I read; I always rushed to read his seasonal reviews and they never failed to bring a smile to my face.
My heart goes out to his friends and family.

Devastating. Zac was synonymous with ANN to me, and I deeply appreciated his work. Condolences to all who were lucky to know him.

Holy shit this is shocking. Just had a family friend pass away suddenly like this from a stroke, now they are saying it was COVID-19 induced. Shit fire these times are terrifying and terrible.

While I haven’t always agreed with what he had to say, I found myself tearing up when I saw this news. It’s jarring to lose such a fixture of the community. He will be missed.

My god, this is like being stunk by a bolt of lighting out of the blue. RIP Zac, I disagreed with your opinions from time to time but you were pretty cool. This site won't be the same without you as it's leading voice.
