It wasn't just that tho. Even Mha and Demon Slayer don't exactly innovate much. But they still execute what they do really well. Zipman, aside from being very generic, was also uninspired.

You are absolutely right, it was sloppy and they just did that to pretend to write some manga.

I'm wondering which WSJ manga will be axed after ZIPMAN!! in the few weeks? Could it be Mitama Security? Because I saw on Twitter that sales of new WSJ mangas Undead Unlock, Agravity Boys and Mission:Yozakura Family are fared better than Mitama's, which sales of vol. 2 is low and it could be axed -- despite that Mitama has 3 color pages like Yozakura's. I'll be disappointed if they axed Mitama.

Black Clover started a fruit salad, with a script very similar to Naruto, everything changed in chapter 22 (manga) and 20 (anime).

I hope not. Mitama started weak but now it has become one of my favourite gag manga :/

I may be the only one, but I really liked Zipman. I actually read that one before the others every week. I really enjoyed it as a love letter of sorts to the tokusatsu genre. Hopefully the mangaka will bounce back from this.

I actually really liked the first chapter of this one and the rest was decent enough, but once the timeskip happened it was pretty obvious that the writing was on the wall, poor guy was probably trying to fit in as much of his story as he could it what time he had. The art is really nice though, so I do hope he gets another series.

Chainsaw Man and Promised Neverland disagree, you can make it without being as cliché. Also, Black Clover become more like Bleach around that time and didn't go away from the cliché. Demon, MHA, and BC all are well done Shonen but don't push Shonen to a new level. (MHA try somewhat)
Anyway, sad to see Zipman go. I hope the mangaka learns from this and makes a hit.

No it didn’t. The Goldy Pond arc is very good. And there’s been plenty of great moments since then, even if the series isn’t as consistent as it once was. The first arc was short and sweet, so it didn’t have too much room to mess up.

I am not agree with you, I think the manga lost its consistent after first arc.

Fairly certain gag manga have a slightly different meter of surviving in WSJ. I would be surprised if it got axed at this point, to be honest.
