Pikachu (and Warcraft) are still higher in the overall international box office, this is just the U.S. box office. I do prefer Pikachu as well, though Sonic was still fairly good to me.

What scares me as this reinforces that removing a game from its properties story and in sonics case even its themes seem to be the better US seller. Sonic sold better not because it was higher quality but because it required no investment in the original property. Making it totally accessible as a no brainer kids film.
