We're in this weird spot where in 2019 a show that's been licensed for the US already has a second season announced but you can't stream it because of Netflix jail.

Sounds interesting. In my opinion, however, Zootopia tells stories of anthropomorphic animals better. It's Disney, they're masters of their craft.

Yea the show not being legally available anywhere outside China and Japan is really a bummer, as I would love to celebrate the second season, but we still have no access to it yet. In the meantime, I will bemoan the lack of any continuation whatsoever for Land of the Lustrous, other than the original manga. I was under the impression that Lustrous sold a lot of blurays in Japan, so it doesn't make sense why the production committee haven't contracted Studio Orange to make another season...

"sounds interesting" Then you haven't watched the show? Cause if you haven't then how would you know?

Like what the person above said, if you haven't seen it, based on what you said here, then its hard to compare them.

Certainly the downside of a show being Netflix exclusive. I do hope people check out the series when it comes out in the US. I nearly forgot about Season 2 of Carole & Tuesday dropping on US Netflix yesterday, and that ended months ago in Japan.

Eh, you can't really compare Zootopia and Beastars, even if they both involve animals that walk/talk like humans and discuss semi-similar topics. They're both great in their own ways, and and I say this as something who loves Zootopia and binged through the Beastars manga in roughly 2 days.

Beastars is one hell of a good yarn, and I refuse to insult it by comparing it to a movie from the real-life Buy-N-Large.

Excellent news. There's certainly a lot of source material to keep this show going for many seasons, and I hope the second one premieres sometime next year.

I admit I can't help but be sad about this as I feel this greatly diminishes the chances of a Season 2 for Land of the Lustrous. But good for the fans of this one.

That's good and all but i'll have to join the group of people disappointed by the lack of a Land of the Lustrous second season... Especially because of how the manga is looking right now, I think it'll only be about a year or less for it to end, so early next year should be the perfect time for a new season.

Yeah they sure killed it with those Star Wars movies. Oh wait...
And those live action remakes, woof. They made money, I guess.
And Frozen 2... Is a movie that exists.
Yeah Disney hasn't been doing great lately.
Anyways happy to hear this news. But also add me to the pile of people yearning for a new Land of the Lustrous season. I like both shows. Glad we're getting a seconds season for at least one of them.
