And for people who doesn't know, the author of this LN is female.

female seiyuu realizing that acting in this is basically like voicing really creepy porn.

Why only female seiyuu would think this? You know that male characters get raped as well, right?

The Authors gender is unconfirmed, Your talking about the manga version who is female the same scenario with SH that the manga was female but the name of the ln author Aneko gender is unconfirmed too.

Regardless tough, once this airs it will definitely create another internet shit storm, personally i could care less, the description of the synopsis and genre tags pretty much tell you what to expect. So people should know what they will walk into.

Off topic, I'm wondering why some authors are hiding their gender nowadays (despite that Japan is a conservative country). Is it because of privacy reasons or other reasons?

I have been dreading this ever since Shield-Hero got popular. I knew it would open up the door for adapting more material that is less subtle about being edgeporn.

EDIT + Update: the reply to ErikaD.D

Oh no.....

I was fine with Goblin Slayer for it had the protag protect the women and those around him. He wanted to do what was right. This? Nuh uh.... Nope. Look, I like the "dark and edgy" stuff but this was too much. I couldn't get past 4 chapters. I knew it was going to be an anime someday when they had a drama CD announced....

ANN had an article posted about why some authors and mangakas hide their gender. Some were told to make their gender unknown for marketing too. That they "wouldn't buy a shounen manga if the mangaka is a woman" which makes no sense to me. But it has happened. There is a topic heavily debated in Japan about how a woman was rejected for she couldn't be a shounen jump editor because of her gender.

Makes me a bit sad for gender doesn't matter in telling a story and art. Sadly, it does happen.

Everyone keeps jumping to point the finger at "incels", but is it really an "incel fantasy" if the protagonist spoiler[spent years being enslaved and drugged and tortured and raped by both men and women, and so brainwashing and torturing and raping them in return is his way of getting an eye for an eye?]

Honestly, unlike Shield Hero, with this story the myriad ways in which the protagonist was wronged by rapist tormentors and then wrongs his rapist tormentors in return, and the ways in which all the targets of his revenge are crazy rapist chaotic evil sociopaths, are all so hilariously extreme that it actually loops round into a dark comedy of where the whole cast is just insane rapey people all [expletive] with each other.

I don't think this will even manage to drum up anywhere near as much controversy as Shield Hero or Goblin Slayer did, because it can take refuge in its ludicrous audacity which has little to no relation to real social issues and is impossible to take seriously in any way.

Never heard of this series until now, but i guess, it would be the "best" time to adapt it since they can use the whole attention-drawing social media racket revolving Shield Hero and other titles from this genre for a nice online presence boost. It's the irony of all those social media debates for the a more or less questionable titles because negative reception in advance can be much better than having no reactions at all which also benefited the anime release of Shield Hero back then.

That's definitely not the case. The Twitter outrage was purely an American thing. Japan had no such issue and most were mostly unaware there was any outrage at all.

This does sound messed up to the point that it could actually be funny. Is it self aware how ridiculous it is?

I don't really like the protag's art. The princess(?) looks good. Of course I'm assuming that was all LN art, and the anime could end up with half assed effort from a bad studio. If they're selling a revenge porn comedy, it does need to have at least not awful visuals.

I can’t wait for Crunchyroll to stream this, and the internet to lose its collective mind. I feel like this will be successful for all the wrong reasons.

I'm pretty sure that reading people's comments on this show would be way more entertaining that watching the anime itself.

Now, that's a surprise. If this is getting a anime, i can't wait for Himekishi ga Classmate! (The Princess Knight is a Classmate!) getting a anime too. They are almost reaching a point of animated the most young adult aimed of the Shōsetsuka ni Narō novels,

If Shield Hero got that treatment by some American reviewers, Kaifuku will make them commit seppuku if they have to review this one.

Yes, this is a hardcore revenge story and almost everybody is bad to the bone, but that is what make this story interesting.

Yhea, that is probably what will happen.
I expect some low tier anime with a thigh budget and not much hardcore because, even for Japanese late night anime standards this is pretty nasty.
