To be quite honest, this milking of the cow has gone on for far too long. I mean, Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was just the same as 2 with only a bigger roster and an easier learning curve for Wii users. You would think by now, people would be getting sick of a new DBZ game every year. Rolling Eyes

You would think so, but apparently that's not the case as they wouldn't keep whipping them out if they weren't profitable. I guess they're taking the EA Sports approach and just releasing an annual version with a few tweaks. Only with the sports games that includes roster updates, even if the internet connectivity of consoles has rendered that necessity obsolete.

It still befuddles me as to how any average gamer can even go for such a marketing gimmick. I mean, why bother getting Madden '08 when you can get Madden '09. No wait, why bother getting Madden '09 when you can get Madden '10. No wait...etc. etc.

My view is if you're going to make a sports game, make one that sticks for the good duration of the console instead of obsoleting it one year later.

The average gamer is a happy consumer who happily consumes without question.

The people on message boards aren't the average gamer.

Sports games are a bit different because players, line-up, coaches, tactics, etc. change every season, so there's endless possibilities. Plus, people like to root for their own teams as they follow the real season.

Besides, they do the same thing in Japan with successful franchises, and people still lap it up.

The games were made to please little kids, they are ones buying it. What they need to do is release a hardcore Dragonball z game. With a more complex fighting engine and real characters (that we actually care about). Right now, the the Dragonball Z game franchise is just wish fulfillment for school children.
