Something i wanna know that is not clear, does this mean they are dropping dvd for all titles including those only released on dvd? or they will drop dvd printing for those that have blu ray versions but that dvd only titles will still be in print?

This isn’t too surprising, since they partner with Sentai on a lot of releases. With Sentai dropping support for the format, except for older non-HD series and shows that had previous seasons on DVD, it’s probably no longer economical for MVM to support it. I imagine they will follow the same pattern as Sentai, and only release DVDs for older titles.

My understanding was that MVM wouldn't be authoring any DVD's itself if the masters didn't already exist, so dragonrider_cody is quite right, they'll follow Sentai for the most part. I don't think it will be long before others follow their lead.

I do have to wonder if MVM will go back and re-release DVD-only titles as Blu-rays wherever possible, such as C for Control, Tsuritama and Arcana Famiglia (among many others), or if they'll stay just DVD-only in the UK.

I asked them a similar question on Facenovel, they said that this only applies to new shows, and they will continue to release shows that only have a DVD transfer.

I'm not overly surprised at the news given the current pricing of BD players (I've seen them as low as £45) and prevalence of HD TV's today, especially as I suspect many who buy physical media won't be interested in the DVD's if the show has a HD version (I've held off buying some releases that were DVD in the hope of a Blu-ray version being announced).

Let's pray to the big man that Outbreak Company gets that Blu-Ray release we've been waiting for.
DVD-only for such a great show is just wrong.

Surely Blu-Rays are cheap enough in 2018 to make DVDs obsolete?
