Is there any way to stop another semi-random article loading when I get to the bottom of the one I'm reading? I really don't want an endless page.

Coding on this feature is complete, we're going to implement it in testing in about a week and you should see it before middle of July.

FWIW, the next article isn't random, but the most recent article published on ANN, followed by the next most recent and so-on.
