As someone who has been following the manga, I can let you know right here and right now that the art style won't mean jack diddly squat once the story and the gaming elements kick in.
It's honestly not about the art anymore for a series like this. It really isn't.

As someone who has been following the manga, I can let you know right here and right now that the art style won't mean jack diddly squat once the story and the gaming elements kick in.

yeah you can say that, and maybe it's even true, but that wont help if it looks bad to everyone from the outside.

Bad art =/= bad anime. It seems incredibly cheap that people are only willing to shoehorn this while not further examining the plot and characters in equal detail.

Good. I love her so much. Also, she won Grand Prize for Artistic Exploration at Ars Electronica STARTS 2017 for apparently putting her music in DNA. (simplified version of the story) This video on her YouTube explains it all: https://youtu.be/WOkZ0cAv-Is I think that's worthy of an interest story.

I like the artstyle. I'm not kidding, I really like it. Oshikiri Rensuke's style is not for everyone, true. His style suits horror and suspense manga best, but I don't think it's out of place in High Score Girl. The main heroine is quite cute, actually.
