Finally, ANN reported on this since this was known since December. This hits me so hard and is unfortunate that this happened. This not only affected Kajiura but everyone and everything involved with her. I'm hoping the music gods help Kajiura get back on her feet quickly. Truly sadden by this since I love her music.

Hit me right in the kokoro.

A very easy bet since she has been steadily booked for shows, especially under Aniplex. I could see her going to a Sony or an independent label. Just imagine how many people would want to hire the creator of the .hack, Madoka Magica, Sword Art Online, and Fate/Zero soundtracks.

Wow, I'm surprised the agency didn't fire the new manager instead if it meant keeping Kajiura at the agency. Of course we don't know all the details but I would think that keeping Kajiura around would be a higher priority.

I know the Japanese differ from the US but it does strike me as odd that a random manager's will would trump a 25 year vet who's produced tons of material for the agency.

Not only that but one of the biggest names in anime music second only to Kanno and Hisashi. She's practically a celebrity in the industry.

One typo in the article:

Quote:
Kajiura has been performing music form an early age

The former manager would be Mori Yasunori, I met him after one FictionJunction Club event and before one Kaori Oda concert.

Four live concerts have been announced at http://www.fictionjunction.com/fjcom/live.html

I'd imagine the agency is very pleased with the manager who made them lose one of their biggest stars and money-makers. With her track record, Kajiura won't have any trouble finding new work.

I'd love to see her composing more game soundtracks. Xenosaga III's soundtrack was amazing.

Seriously, why hasn't anyone hired her to compose more game music?

Kajiura left Space Craft Produce due to a disagreement with a new manager, and that Kajiura was negotiating the rights to her music with the agency at the time. The report claimed that Kajiura was supervised by a certain manager in Space Craft Produce for a long time, but the manager was allegedly replaced by a new female manager after Kalafina's Budokan concert in September 2016. The report claimed that Kajiura had differences with her new manager regarding the direction of her music. After her previous manager supposedly left the company last June, and with continued disagreements with her new manager, Kajiura allegedly decided to leave the agency.

Sounds like they hired one hell of a bungler to lose someone as talented and valuable as Kajiura. I'm sure finding something new won't be difficult with her resumé, but you have to wonder what exactly this new manager had in mind with differences in the music direction.

It would be incredible if she composed the next Tales soundtrack.

Boy this has been in the rumor mill for quite a few months, I was starting to doubt it was happening but yep it happened. Either way, Kajiura is very sought after I can imagine any agency is eager to scoop her up quickly.

That's unfortunate. It's pretty much what happens when you've done work for a major company and the guards change. I hope that she'll be able to continue working in a new venue. That's the hard part. I wish her all the lucky. I've enjoyed her music for years since Noir all the way up to the GOS series. It's been years since I've heard anything of hers (religiously) until I watch a new project and I find out it's her doing the compositions.
