Ouch that score for Gundam Versus is a bit disheartening to see.
Would really suck if the first major gundam video game released in the US since the mid 00s turned out to be a dud.

Foop, I hope GV is a hit in murica, albeit very doubtful.

I just hope it sells well enough that Namco Bandai will consider releasing future Gundam titles outside of Japan. Otherwise its back to importing and hoping that the games come with English subtitles.

What is going on with G:V? All of its youtube videos are being trolled with dislikes and the reader score is low. Is there something cripplingly wrong with the game? By all accounts is just more of the same gameplay that people love.

Don't worry. The game is actually really good. The roster is not that great, but dives are an amazing addition to the game. Really breathes fresh air into the gameplay like adding rainbow steps did for EXVS. Netcode is great, runs super smooth on a normal PS4.

I can see unit roster being a reason it's getting hit right now. A lot of KEY units people used in the arcades and console version such as 00 S2/00 Movie, and Endless Waltz are totally absent at the moment and will likely be used as DLC in the near future. My unit that I use in the arcades and FB is absent to and it doesn't fall under either of those series.
Actual reasons from what I've looked up on the current scores from sites like Amazon(so take with grain of salt they always bomb the ratings on release)
Roster is cut down - I'll agree, we have a lot of what I feel would be just throw away units or would have been apart of a units move kit as a support that way.
DLC - As I said I bet 00 s2/movie and EW will be DLC since we're already getting hammered with it.
Removal of Assist from move ktis/striker system - Some like it some don't.
People thinking boost dive will destroy balance
Don't get me wrong I've been enjoying the game a ton, but I can see where the complaints are coming from.

I'm not sure those will be dlc. They may just be holding them back for Gundam Vs. Extra Dive (title pending).
I also don't think the lack of those series really matters in the end. Yes, people have pet favorites, and having some of the most popular of all time suits not there is not irrelevant. I think the problem with the roster is that is has absolutely no major suits not in the arcades. If they left out those main series but instead added more S2 IBO Gundams, Twilight Axis, Thunderbolt S2, etc, I think the draw would be there in the roster. Instead there is a ton of mass produced fodder suits and some minor gundams from 00 that nobody really ever cared about.

Well as long as its a step above Federation vs Zeon and Gundam Vs Zeta I guess i don't have much to worry about. I never played any of the VS games that weren't localized so even if Gundam VS (2017) turns out to be a step down from previous entries it won't mean much to me.

Sad that Gundam Versus isn't faring so well (and for reasons understandable, as Amiantos highlighted). Hopefully it'll sell well just enough for another subtitled debut of the next Gundam title.

00R7S, 00Q, Reborns are really popular 3k units that within the higher tiers of arcade play are used a ton, but yeah a large chunk of units within VS PS4 right now are units that people probably never asked for. Zwei is a popular one within arcades too but since it was part of s1 it made it in.
Edit: It just hit me like a sack of bricks there's no Seed Destiny units either yet. I stand by what I said for sure now since some of the Seed Destiny units were super popular too.

Within Japan for a title that people could just go to the arcades to play and have an over all stronger selection of units it sold really well. Question is if it will pull a VS Force where like 3 weeks after release you can find it in the bargain bin or will they make an address to add in and change certain things in the coming weeks and hope the sales don't drop like a rock. Eng Asia/General Asia release is probably gonna really boost it though, NA/EU release I don't see having much of an effect though since we never really got a lot of Gundam exposure.

It isn't even comparable. Everything before EXVS was slow as molasses. I guess the SEED games had speed burst... There are way more unique suits in this compared tot he old games as well. The only thing really holding GVS back from the last generation of vs series games is the roster.

Your missing the point there. Those are popular in the higher tiers of arcade play because they're top tier suits. Quant was utter shit in Maxi On until a fairly recent buff in the arcades, and during that time you would pretty much never see anyone pick it. Similarly, Reborns was crap for the majority of Maxi Boost, and you would hardly see anyone play it in arcades either. SF was crap in FB, crap at MB launch, gets buffed then everyone plays the shit out of it.
If you look at the most played suits each month, they are consistently the newest and the strongest suits. Thats pretty much it.
Zwei isn't in arcades (unless he is a non playable enemy unit in one of the arcade stages).
