I am happy to see that Funimation is using an all star cast for the dub of Sakura Quest. Kudos for understanding that it is very important to make strong dubs for quality shows. Sakura Quest is quickly becoming a show I really like, and I plan to buy the disc release if I keep enjoying it.

Out of all of P.A. Works' "cute, working females" shows they've done, Sakura Quest is the one that gets the dub. It's kind of amusing once you think about it.

It is nice that they are dubbing Sakura Quest, and the line up looks nice. But should they not wait, only 4 episodes are out.

well, depending on how you look at it, they are waiting. except for My Hero, everything is starting at least 3 eps behind the simulcast this season. that's a little longer than what has starting to become normal

If only Funi had gotten hold of the other two.

I don't think it is amusing. Hanasaku Iroha and Shirobako deserve dubs because of their high quality. Your statement appears to insinuate that Sakura Quest is somehow less deserving of a dub, which I disagree because it has been a good show so far.
Hanairo and Shirobako did not get dubs in large part because the companies that licensed them, especially NISA, do not dub many of their shows. Rather than lamenting the lack of dubs for the after mentioned titles, I celebrate that Sakura Quest is getting one.

Why? Funimation is dubbing a bunch of crap this season. Apart from MHA and AoT, If there is another show that deserves a dub from them, it has to be Sakura Quest.

Just for the sake of playing devil's advocate, I thought it's very important to not recycle the same actors since that's a criticism I hear a lot towards dubs. I mean, all of the main cast have been in dubs since the late 2000s, so where does draw the line between " having an all-star cast" and "not recycling same voice actors?"

^ First, Funimation has added significant new VA talent in the last few years. I think they are unjustly accused of not using much new talent. I personally don't get fatigued of hearing the same, old proven voice actors if they deliver. Even if they are recycled, the cast for Sakura Quest is still all star.

I never meant to insinuate that Sakura Quest was less deserving than the others (hell, I like this show so far along with Shirobako). I just saw it as a neat observation and really do appreciate that Sakura Quest is getting a dub. Sorry if my original post came out negatively snarky.

The part in bold I'm fully aware of. In fact, I do technically agree with what you're saying. The reason I played devil's advocate is because your previous argument about what makes for a quality dub came off... strong. It came off so strong that it gave me the impression that there was a certain way to make a dub in poor quality, a way that's opposite of what I sometimes hear.
When you hear one thing after another about all these right and wrong ways to make an anime dub, even ones that contradict one another, it paints a muddled picture. One moment you hear fans express fatigue over using more veteran voice actors again, then the next you hear fans express concern when they actually do cast fresh blood.
That's where I was coming from.

I actually had pictured like Alexis or even Monica for the "Sakura Quest" lead. I think out of all the Funi VA I have heard, Alexis, Lydia Mackay, and Stephanie Young-Brehm have the sexiest voices.
