I wish Crunchyroll could stream this series.

It definitely needs more love. I think Rightstuf was offering the whole series for $5 during their Christmas sale (it was those dvd volumes with "as seen on Adult Swim" on the cover, but still), probably to move them out since they were supplanted by the Viz BDs. I'd really like to see this live-action series.
I'm also glad to hear that at least the second volume of the novel has been translated now. I read the first one, which was a bit different from the series, and was wondering if we'd ever get more. Go Scholastic! |

The second volume was translated back in 2009. Unfortunately, they didn't sell well enough for Scholastic to think it worth it to continue. A shame since Scholastic did a nice job with the releases. |

Huh, I read the first volume about a year after it aired on Adult Swim (so late 2010?) and my library didn't have the second one. I kept checking back for a year or so, then gave up, so I assumed it hadn't been done.
Looks like they have it now though. Yay! |

It was six dollars, actually, but that's still a goddamned steal. Well, was -- it is most likely not available for that sum anymore. |

It's available on Hulu with both subs and dubs: http://www.hulu.com/moribito-guardian-of-the-spirit The "as seen on Adult Swim" version of the series is still available at Rightstuf for $13: http://www.rightstufanime.com/Moribito-Guardian-of-the-Spirit-DVD-Complete-Collection-Hyb This is the "stack-pack" eight-disc re-release from Media Blasters. I've purchased a couple of these as gifts. I bought the original box-set when MB first released it. It consisted of eight installments and totalled about $150-200 at the time. The Viz release is on four DVDs or two BDs and costs about $25-30 from the usual places. I've watched the first episode of the live-action version. It's rather different from the anime. spoiler[For instance, Balsa is badly treated by her captors after she rescues Chagum.] I never read the novel so I don't know which version is more consistent with the original. If Crunchyroll were ever going to stream a version of Moribito, I'd want to see the live-action production. |

In terms of "Moribito" books being continued here, asking both the author and publisher about a legalized fan translation might be the only way right now.

Takeshi Kaga? How can we lose?
I really hope someone picks this up for at least English subtitled streaming. I enjoyed the two volumes of the books we got and the anime is still my favorite series. (EDIT: spelling) |
