The blurb on the front page says "You won't believe what took the #1 spot!" but I assumed the #1 spot would be Yuri or Eupho, and those two are in the first two spots. ANN needs to work on its clickbait smh.

So apparently ANN believes that Kyoto Animation shows can't possibly be popular.
And at the other end of the spectrum, Trickster and ClassicaLoid occupy the bottom two spots; right where I thought they'd be.

No, no, they think you believe that Kyoto Animation shows can't possibly be popular!

Clearly the number of exclamation points in the anime's title has a direct correlation to the final ranking. As it should be.

The only thing that jumps out to me is that in the cumulative Izetta is not in the top 5. Based on the overall positive reception, I was convinced it had a chance to compete for favorite show of this season.

Well, to be fair, I don't think I've seen anything aimed primarily at a female audience take the #1 or even #2 spot since I've been following this. Showa Genroku was at #3. I was expecting Yuri to be in the top 3 but I didn't actually think it would be #1.

Literally at the bottom! Given that my next second favorite as far as 3rd episodes go didn't even make the reviews, this is gonna be a great season to accompany the rankings.

Not really surprising, Izetta seems like a show that's always a few step from master pieces but stubbornly refuse to go there and would rather jump into easy fan service and mustachio twirling villain.
As a results you get a fairly large audience, but none of them really get what they want. The people who do want boob grabbing character and humiliated lead don't get much of that and the people who want serious historical/political show don't get much of that.

I was a little surprised that it wasn't higher at first, but then I looked at the shows above it and it all made sense. Personally, Izetta was pretty much just not-too-bad, in my opinion. It has some sloppy writing already, and I found some of the military stuff to be kind of boring, so that's why I'm giving it pretty middling scores. One top of that, Yuri on Ice and Eupho and Girlish Number and March Comes in Like A Lion and Flip Flappers are all blowing me away and getting great scores. I almost worry my scores will have almost no effect on the poll since I'm giving 5s to multiple shows each week right now...

I disagree. Izetta is certainly no masterpiece, but it has been solid and entertaining so far. A show does not have to be masterfully crafted to be well regarded by fans.
Some people are cynically wishing for Izetta to become a sexually creepy show, but aside from a couple of short scenes in episode 4, the series has been a fun, action/adventure show. Also, remember that these rankings do not cover episode 4.

4 of the top 5 are composed of a majority female audience, so I am a little surprised that Hibike ended up in the top spot.

No these rankings don't cover episode 4. If they did, Izetta would be lower in the weeklies. Episode 4 was its lowest rated episode so far with only has a 4.0 rating out of 5, down from 4.3, 4.2, and 4.4 of the first 3 episodes. Yes Izetta has been solid so far, but with the shows that are at the top, you need to be more than just solid to be near the top.
And maybe 4 of the top 5 are more geared towards female audiences (doesn't stop me) but they are excellent shows as well (well for Bungou this arc was at least). As far as I can see, the best shows of the season are at the top so I'm not surprised that Hibike is up there with Yuri and the others. Now, Bungou might well go back to the first season's ranking or at least lower than it is now, so that composition likely will change.
And I'm right there with you with the ratings, relyat8. Great season.

Bungo Stray Dogs latest arc has been an exceptionally good one, but even if the next arc receive season 1-ratings (but I believe it will be better), the position in the cumalative rankings shouldn't change that much from the Spring season (very consistently positioned at 10-11)

Just curious, has there ever been an episode of anything that got a 5.0 rating from viewers?
