A bit surprised that March Comes in Like A Lion made it in the Top 10. Perhaps it got a huge viewership when it aired?

Congrats to March Comes in Like a Lion, and it's late night slot coming into the Top 10. Though previously, Moribito (a rerun oddly enough) made the Top 10 at the same timeslot not too long ago.
Interestingly enough, both of these shows actually aired on NHK General, compared to NHK Educational, which is usually where anime (and western cartoons like Curious George and Shaun the Sheep) airs. On another note, Pretty Cure finally makes a reappearence after so many weeks in the Top 10. That 2.9% is however, not that good looking

I am now watching 2 daytime top 10 anime with March comes in like a lion (i can´t see it holding the numbers) and Naruto, as i returned to see Vol.72 being adapted. Yet Naruto somehow isn´t in the top 10 despite ending it´s run... on paper at least. Has all the filler deluded market interest in seeing the 3rd biggest manga of all time finishing it´s tv run? That´s kinda sad.

It airs on NHK which every japanese tv has and on Saturday and people have a day off on sunday.
That is not true the tv rating for madoka weren't good which is not surprising since it airs after 12pm and we only got the tv rating of madoka thanks to a leak. |

Also, NHK General is usually the top rated channel of them all, even moreso than usual #1 commercial channel, Fuji TV. It's like how BBC1 in the U.K. is the top channel, compared to PBS in the U.S., or ABC in Australia; NHK (or at least the General channel), is marketed for mainstream consumption. And about Madoka Magica, the anime actually got very good ratings on it's Kansai airing on MBS, even late at night (fittingly also the station responsible for its production), but did okay for a late-night airing on Kanto's TBS (which Kanto is the only area really covered for these lists, and the source of these lists). Speaking of which, I have always wondered, what happened to the leaks, and why did they stop? |
