I was beginning to think this would never get licensed. I didn't care for the series at all, but this is great news for fans.

Already got Siren Visual's DVD releases, but I'll happily double-dip for a solid Bluray release.

Awesome news! This is a series I was afraid we'd lose whenever Crunchy's licence ran out. I don't buy many disks any more, but this one is certainly at the top of the agenda.

So sentai finally licensed a new show how long has it been since there last one?
I love chihiyafuru to death but yay this smells of "well we burned bridges hard so we had to overpay for a popular series in japan that is no where near as popular here" to me. I am not at all trying to disrespect chihiyafuru but it's an externally un-mainstream hard core shojo anime there is a reason NIS never touched this series and now sentai is probably betting the farm with it.

I never expected to see an American company license this show. It's a wonderful series and I hope this plays out well for Sentai. It has a dedicated, if perhaps not especially numerous, band of advocates and it'd be nice if it were reach a little beyond them, at least.

I really enjoyed the series, and am glad it's finally getting an English release. Can't say it's an instant pre-order for me, but I will definitely consider buying it at some point.

Chihayafuru is one of the best shows I've watched in the last couple years, but it deals with a game that's arcane even to many Japanese people, so I had doubts whether it would ever come over - and indeed, it seemed like its window had passed. Still, I'm glad to see it get an NA release.
I'll pick it up, for sure (though I hope they do a blu-ray release). Good on Sentai for this one.

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju was also Josei and that did quite well, though I suppose you're right, it doesn't seem to have as much as a market as other demographics. Which is strange as there must be a decent amount of adult women who are into Anime in the America.

Sentai releases are region-locked, I assume? Well, I'll buy it either way just for the support. I'd probably prefer Commie's version for a rewatch, anyway, because good typesetting is important for this show.

I'm a day one cert for this, I just hope Sentai realise that Chihayafuru's the type of cult show with a fandom that clearly want/will pay for more than a budget 13 episodes a disk release. Of course we all thought the same with Shirobako but hopefully they'll listen to customer feedback from day 1 this time around.
Also, what ever happened to their release of Phi Brain S3? I'm guessing their delay was code for cancelling it. It would be nice if there was someone in the company that actually responded to questions. Sigh.
So yeah, great show but I'm sceptical about how well the end product will turn out,
