"Another" was a FMP spinoff? Does anyone know how it tied in to the original FMP story in the first place? I didn't really see any connections at all when I watched it.

There's a FMP series called Full Metal Panic! Another, not the "Another" series that most people would think

For an unfinished anime that started in 2002 and a book series that finished in 2010? "Does not add up" doesn't begin to explain whose idea this was or who it's for.
I love the first series, didn't care for the Kyo Ani ones; One's "too hot", the other's "too cold" but the Gonzo one was "just right" to me so.... personal bias time!
It was up to me, I'd like a series of movies.
I have no idea what it's going to be or why the official announcement of this second pre-announcement- I'm counting the official first announcement from last year as a teaser; why not, they clearly are- is still several months away. Time's wasting, the series is only getting older.

FMP had one of the few passable dubs IMO. Good times with that. All I can say about this specific announcement besides obvious excitement, is that KyoAni's schedule for 2017 is looking pretty empty right now..... >.>

That wasn't official; the director merely said it with no other specifications.

No, they had an event and everything basically confirming it last year. The only thing up in the air is the studio as Gatoh's most likely returning to writing it as he did with the previous seasons (a good thing too, considering how vastly improved TSR was from the novel plot) They also had Chidori's and Tessa's VAs there as well. I believe Seki had prior obligations so he couldn't show but did leave a message.
It was as official as it possibly could've been at the time.
It was like the Fafner: Heaven and Earth sequel announcement. Sure, it took around 4 years to come out (referring to Exodus here) but it did come out, and was an official announcement.

Pretty much the only other announcement I'm excited for besides the Code Geass 10th anniversary. All I want is either Takemoto to direct since he and Gatoh have insane synergy or KyoAni to animate it. The latter is probably harder since KyoAni doesn't care about adapting other companies novels as much as their own light novels and such.

Ahhhhh! Got it. The "(including Another)" link in the article links to the "Another" anime series, so I was thinking that was the one they meant, and had no idea how it related at all. Thanks!

The main seiyuu will be at the panel so I presume they'll be back and the new anime is still underway, I wonder what sort of announcement it will be?

OMG please stop teasing already!
Whenever I see FMP-related news my heart skips a bit. Hopefully we'll get some solid info in October.
And contrary to popular opinion I prefer GONZO version over KyoAni. Hope they'll return.
