I'd recommend grabbing this fan-made Pokemon game before it suffers a similar fate:

It sucks that I had given up waiting for this ages ago, only to find out it came out and was killed while I wasn't looking.

Satoru Iwata officially okayed fan projects a couple years back, so this feels like betrayal.

it's pretty easy to disrespect a dead person's wish.He is dead, what is he gonna do about it?I expected no less from this current Nintendo with its ass backwards mindset...

Seeing as it's on torrent and going places faster than coming down, I wouldn't exactly say it's killed and unavailable, just that the main branch has been cut...

They didn't have time to complete the linux-port (further updates notwithstanding). But if you're on Windows and want to, just play it. Smile

Japanese media companies can be super authoritarian. They won't even allow review videos half the time. It's disgusting that they can do this and yet continue to charge high prices for so many things. Corporate monsters.

Well...That's Nintendo's [distasteful] way of celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Metroid...

Still waiting for a real Metroid game Nintendo.

If you are referring to that statement he made in 2014, that's incorrect. He was specifically referring to programs in Japan like video and art contests. The specific one he mentioned was Niconico/ Tokaigi Game Party which they are a sponsor of. Nothing he said applies to anything outside of Japan, and he said it only applies to videos, fan art, and music remixes. He never mentioned fan games. So an American fan game has nothing to do with what he was talking about.

It's more than likely the American branch doing it. Nintendo of Japan has no problem with fan content, including porn, but Nintendo of America is another story. They've gone after fan art and other things as well. American companies are a lot more strict about copyright than Japanese companies are.

Well those are the risks taken. Peole can dress it up all they like, but the game was never given Nintendo's official approval and thus they have every right to shut it down. Plus considering how they guys who made it aren't complaining, it's not really my right to get angry on their behalf.

Ugh. I downloaded it before it got taken down, knowing it would happen, but Wine won't run it for some reason.

People aren't angry or surprised as much as they are disappointed.Nintendo could easily have decided to back this instead and maybe made a profit off of it.Plus there's the previously mention fact that it's the series' 30th anniversary and Nintendo chose to do nothing. The fans would love a new metroid game.
