Eighteen hundred bucks?! That's a lot! I found a site the sells real swords, when I saw the preices, I think they were pretty cheap. But then again, I've only seen one sword site selling them.

I think the price is so high on the sword that i saw, because it is hand forged, and billed as a replica of kenshin's sword.
there was another version of kenshin's sword in the same place that is cheaper, but it isn't hand forged so it cost less than a grand

Do your research before you get ripped off, folks... that's all I ask.
Most swords sold on the internet are stainless steel crap, only worth hanging on your wall. I've actually seen these swords snap in two at the hilt just from being swung....
If all you want is something to hang on the wall, then fine... buy stainless. But don't pay the huge prices companies ask for them, because it's just a fleecing. You might as well just ask them to rape you.... just go to eBay, and you can get most of this junk for less than fifty dollars.
If you actually want a sword that will hold an edge, buy high carbon steel. Hand-forged is nice, but that doesn't guarantee quality.... ask about tang style, balance points, and centers of percussion. Ask about hardness, hilt materials, and blade vibration. Ask whether the blade is live or rebated.... And expect to pay for it...
500 USD is a good standard price for a more or less entry level live blade, and it just goes up from there.
Shopping is all about research, folks.... do it or get ripped off.

for a sword just spray paint a bokken. for cosplay that is.
99.9% of cons wont let you have live steel for good reason so who the f*ck care if your prop is a exact replica sword of kenshins that costs over 1k dollerrs or if its a 20 doller wallhanger there not going to see the blade anyway.
edits for spelling.

Ok, lets say a crazed fan goes as Kenshin, and the guys totally obsessed and insane, and he sees someone dressed as Shishio, pulls out his sword and you have a problem

Simple, the guy dressed as Saitou trips him, lights a cigarette, takes a long drag, then calls him an idiot and walks away.
Anyway, I guess I should consider myself lucky that AWA is, as Sakechan put it, one of those few minority cons that not only allows blades with cosplay, but sells them in the dealer's room, as well.

Or maybe a girl dressed as Yumi goes between them.....
.....wait never mind because she would get stabbed by the guy dressed as Shishio.
