Um, this is nice, I guess. Though I think this is one of those things that you really don't want your guests to see in your living room, maybe. Shocked

Now, if it was Gits's Motoko Kusanagi, I'm there. Smile Embarassed

I'm just curious as to why now? Takahashi, of all people, surely doesn't need the money. Are all the Lum fans aging out of the buying demographic and the merchandisers are just trying to get the last bit of money?

Just wondering.

That is definitely out of my price range, but I would like to see some pictures of a finished statue.

My wife is still pissed at me for spending ¥50'000 on that Apple Watch I bought in Shibuya last month. I'd hate to think of her reaction if I spent a mil for a life sized Lum statue. Probably cheaper than the divorce lawyer I'm sure.

It is a nice and easy chance to win, but... I wont participate, If I win, I don't know what to do with it.

Urusei Yatura is considered a timeless series Space Battleship Yamato or Fist of the North Star. Characters, scenes, and themes are still relevant in Japan's pop culture and influential in animanga today.

A lot of UY merchandise is still released, and this is evidently the cream of the crop.

For 10 grand, they'd better paint it for the buyer.

Looks cool but it would just end up in storage for like...forever...on my end.

My guess is that it's the opposite: They're aging INTO the demographic that has this kind of disposable income.

I always wonder where these kind of statues end up. I'd love to see how their buyers display them in their homes.

I see some non-Japanese have already liked the facebook page. I wonder if international shipping is included for the winner? At 25 kg, it could be expensive, although small in comparison to the $8300 it would cost to buy one.

I also wonder if this will be able to hold a static electric charge, once it is all painted.

Looks like something a certain anime distribution company would have in their main office...

They could have made it out of something other than plastic. Even if its good plastic. If someone is going to pay 10 grand for Lum to begin with, he or she has money to burn and can afford more expensive materials.

If they had opted for a ball-jointed version, the price would have gone up several times*, but you'd have a poseable figure. Though this option would be more practical for someone less scantily-clad character because of the joints(dolls usually use real fabric)...

* Or not. Going by the sites I visit and what I remember from past listings, the prices for dolls seem to have fallen a lot over the last years. Or perhaps I'm just imagining it?...
