I have a question relating to the actual Texhnolyze trailer, here is the link on you tube so you can take a look at it and understand what I am asking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__9SoFTJCPg At about 1 minute and 5 seconds into the trailer I a see a character that I never remember seeing at all in the series. I was wondering if any of you guys knew who he is. He is the one that is standing with his back turn to Onishi while holding a sword. He is wearing an orange coat, blue shirt, and pink glasses. Some of the important characters like Shinji and Yoshi did not appear in this trailer and Doc barely got a appearance. On the other hand this guy got a pretty good chunk considering that he had nothing to do in the series. Please let me know I would really appreciate it.

I looked but I couldn't place him either. It has been a couple years since I watched the series though, and it wasn't exactly one of my favorites.

I guess at a pinch he resembles Shinji, but I can't ever recall him wearing glasses or having that hairstyle.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was some character that was scrapped before production, or more likely it was was one of Shinji's original designs.
I'm also frustrated at the credits: Hirotsugu Hamasaki is the director of Texhnolyze. So is Hiroshi Hamasaki a different person or a pseudonym? |

And why are the kanji for both names identical? |

If that's the case perhaps the preview was fansubbed? I've seen actual anime companies get the transliterations of names wrong for Japanese voice actors before though so it might have something to do with it. Japanese names can be confusing. Even Japanese people can't always tell how a name is read just by looking at the kanji. EDIT: and by doing a little homework both readings are valid for the kanji so it's most likely that someone translating/transliterating the names of the directors got it screwed up somehow. I would be inclined to think that these are the same person. EDIT2: And speaking from personal experience (and again doing a little googling), I would veer on the side of Hiroshi being the reading since it appears more times with the same credits and is a more common Japanese name AFAIK. I suppose if Hirotsugu was the given transliteration on the official version... but even then they can goof. |
