How are those collaboration suppose to work? Do the organizers think "if we will endorse anime A, then fans of anime A will come to see our games"? I don't see how, aside from marketing to boost sales for the home-media, those collaborations could benefit the endorsers.

As both a soccer fan and an anime fan, this just makes my want for both Soccer anime AND (more) Girls Sport anime.
You'd think Japan would have tried to capitalize their win at WWC 2011... other than that one manga about the team?

I love anime and I love football (soccer for you other folks). The collaborations can't work just on the basis of "have anime tie in and they will come". These are completely different people with completely different interests. If they got into the top tier of the J-League then it would be worth a shot since it would have a higher chance of being recognized but on the lower division it just won't work.
Loved Giant Killing. Quite good in my opinion.
Team shout outs:
Come on Chelsea
Let's go Revs
USA ain't nothin' to mess with

I hope no mangaka will comment about this like how Oda did with Love Live's shrine collaboration

I'm a rather big Tokyo Verdy supporter and go to matches when ever I am in Tokyo. I was lucky enough to attend the collaboration match with FC Gifu, where all 4 of Verdy's goals came past the 80th minute. While I personally love these collaborations due to incorporating my main two hobbies, there was defiantly not a lot cross mingling between Verdy supporters and Brilliant Park fans. Verdy's attendance is probably 80% supporter section, a rather impressive and loud lot but it must be hard to attract fair-weather fans when FC Tokyo competes in J-League 1 in the same stadium. While the fans didn't seem to mind the anime fans, even stopping by to buy and add the exclusive scarf and kit to their collections, the anime fans were weirdly roped into their own section come match time and only seemed interested when the seiyu came out. It really seemed like they were only staying out of obligation or politeness, kind of a cultural dilemma I guess.
These collaborations don't really hurt, and best case scenario a few fans see the craziness of the SG and want to join, but for Verdy it's kind of hard to keep casual fans when these fans could easily just go to Tokyo FC matches.

And even in the Amagi crossover episode, the all-star exhibition match is supposed to rescue the park's business, but doesn't 100% do the job (leading to more creative last-minute alternatives), as the park fans and soccer fans turn out to be too separate.
Given the image of anime at home, that's probably the case with most of the tie-ins as well.
It's like our own lingering grudges over Space Jam: How many Bugs Bunny fans are into the NBA, and the NBA didn't seem that respectfully experienced on toon lore.

Sad to see this hasn't really worked, but I do now follow the fortunes of Mito HollyHock thanks to Girls Und Panzer.

I think I agree with Goto. Although a part of anime fans do still have a social life, most are shut-ins and don't mingle well with social events, especially sports. Maybe using characters as mascots, but it doesn't seem like the collaborations are yielding much success.
