A split cour of this franchise? Hmm.
It's been awhile since I've watched Utawarerumono but maybe it has potential. White Fox, one of my favorite studios, is animating this so....

I love the first series, so I'd definitely watch this. It looks like it has a different main cast of characters though. I hope we get to see some of the familiar faces from the first season though, like Touka and Karula.

It's 25 episode 2 cour show, not something like 12x2.

Not liking the chances of this ever getting an English translation. Did the first game ever get one?

Don't think the first game ever got an official English release, but Tears to Tiara 2 from the same developer did, so there's definitely a chance.
I love the Utaware world and its quirky characters. Really hoping to see Touka, Karura, Kamyuu, Eruru, Aruru, and the rest of the gang as well as this new cast of characters. And of course I'd love to hear some more beautiful vocals from Suara.

First game has full English fan-translation at least. For both PC and PS2 versions.

The PC version got an unofficial English patch from a fansubbing group.

Were does it state that it will a split-cour or a continuous run? All that was revealed is that it will be 25-episodes long.

The second game is slated for a September 24 release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in Japan. |
So it most likely be like those movie-game tie-ins, were, due to both being developed simultaneously, each having its own plot and character development.

Will this be a direct sequel? or a spin-off? Or an alternative setting?

No it won't. Game script was ready long before so why the Hell anime should be different. First Utawarerumono and Tears to Tiara was quite faithful to the game.

I hope that the anime is popular enough for somebody to license and release it in the US.
Both Utawarerumono and Tears to Tiara are among my favorite shows and I would like to have a chance to try this.

For those asking about the game in hte US, I honestly expect it some day. Tears 2 didn't do too bad here. Super hyped for this..loved the original, especially the music..still one of the best OSTs for anime ever.

New Utawarerumono anime, huh? I could potentially get excited about this.
It'd be nice if Sentai could potentially license it and bring back most of the English VAs from the first season.
