Pretty cool, though I suspect physical regional locking would render it useless outside Japan even if you could crack the software (assuming it had any).

"Once inserted into the system, the cartridges can be "installed" so games can be played without worrying about cartridges again. "
Ok, but that is why emulators exist playable on any pc and even consoles and portables.
Thou I dont doubt some will buy this, but pointelss really.

Except that this method is completely legal and allows for playback of the original cartridges that one may already own, which you can't do with emulation.

My GCW Zero can play all of those and also Sega CD and PCE CD games (save for arcade card games). Get one of those (or a pandora if you can afford it) and not this contraption.

I would love to buy this retro console- I miss the old days of playing my Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance titles on TV.

I still have a lot of my Commodore 64 game floppies. This console will probably appeal to those Japanese gamers that are hoarders like me and still have all the old cartridges that they are unable to use now.

It's perfectly legal to use emulators for games you already own. In fact, this console actually makes emulating said games even easier as it gives you a direct way to create the emulation.

Most people I know are brushing this off and sticking with the Retron 5, because it won't play NES games.

I've seen these consoles that play snes and genesis...how solid is it of a system? How likely would it catch on fire?

I've still haven't seen a single one of these multi-system consoles allow for Master System games.
Turbografx-16 gets included, but no Sega Master System love?

I had a Super wild card back in the day. They have ripped all the games at this point. I like the idea but none of it is legit or for that matter relevant in 2015.
If any of you get a chance to go to E3 look for the bootleg halls off the beaten path you might find something like this retro game block with emulator saves and filters.

Oh boy. This will cause issues. It's only a matter of time before somebody sues. Anyone remember the Retron 5? It was exactly the same thing, minus a few ports and from a different company. Nintendo sued for 'development of patented code-reading hardware' or something, and the whole thing was shut down.

I just bought a retron 5 three weeks ago. Works great! It has the latest v2.2 firmware that came out 2014-12-01. And the info on the bottom of the machine says it was made in April. So not shut down.
