I like this "license early and often" strategy.
Wish Upon the Pleiades and Re-Kan! are definite buys for me.

Very glad to see Sentai licensing more than one new show this season. I want to believe that my nightmare scenario where Funimation with their big pockets took Sentai out of the licensing game was paranoia on my part.

I too wish that Dog Days gets a home video release here. I think it would fit with anime fans that like fantasy comedy like Slayers.

When Aniplex of America announces about 3.5 months from now the summer titles they will be streaming, if any Aniplex of Japan titles are left off that list, I expect we can just abandon all hope of a legal stream.

I remember hearing that the creator was quite pissed with how Nanoha and A's where handled stateside. Since then we've not seen any of his projects released here be it Dog Days or Nanoha related. (edit should be noted that many of the higher up people at Ani-plex America are fromer Geneon top enders, so them handling it seems even less likely)
From taking a glance at ViVid, it feels like A1 is messing up the level of detail, the barrier jackets alone just seem to be lacking over their Striker's versions. The character models as well just seem planer than what we've had before.

I'm most interested in watching Wishing Upon the Pleiades and Re-Kan.
And yes, it's indeed sad that MGL Nanoha and Dog Days continue to be ignored; the latter being more so since it never had a debut in the U.S. Oh, well...In any case, I still have hope for them yet, however small their chances of them having their U.S. debut may look.

I would like to repeat this, but with one extra word added.

What kind of handling did they do that upset him? Ironically, the Japanese staff (this might include him) allowed CR to stream the first 2 Dog Days seasons here.

Yeah to both of these. They are not dubbing enough of their stuff anymore.

Yeah to both of these. They are not dubbing enough of their stuff anymore. |
This year Sentai has been dubbing about 1/3 of their new shows (2012 onward). To me that is an ideal number for two reasons: 1) most of the stuff they license is more niche than mainstream, and 2) Sentai has demonstrated incompetence in the past when they dubbed too many shows.
I am perfectly fine with their current strategy. I rather see Sentai only dub a third of their shows and give them more quality control.

I agree about the quality control, but then I think they should slow down a bit in releasing them so that they can dub about 1/2 of them, and still dub them well.
If they are going to dub so few then IMO they are currently passing on dubbing too many of their bigger shows that other companies probably might have dubbed (admittedly ones I'd have liked to have seen dubbed, so I'm biased) like Space Brothers and Captain Earth, while instead using their overly limited amounts of dubs on the hammered Magical Warfare, if it's at the expense of those (that's not to mean it should be based only on ratings though).
