and also from the aspects , the manga is particularly more faithful towards the Light Novels than the anime version which will please those that have a tendency of cringing when either the anime or manga isnt completely faithful towards the LN.

Huh. A little strange to see one of my favorite authors mentioned in reference to Log Horizon, but I'll take it! I can't remember; this is the only print version we're getting of Log Horizon, right? Just the manga, not the light novels?

I don't have my Japanese copy handy, but did they change the name of the expansion? It's supposed to be "Homesteading the Noosphere", not just "Homesteading."

Also, the anime DID start with them all together, then flash back to how they got there. The anime started with them fighting the briar weasels in the forest.

They didn't change the name so much as make only the "Homesteading" part easily legible; I'm guessing this is a symbolic move (since essentially the Adventurers are homesteading a new life) rather than one of the volume's legibility issues.

And yes, the anime starts in media res as well, but not to the degree the manga does - it takes longer to get all of the early details in the manga version; for example, by the end of volume one we still spoiler[don't know how Akatsuki changes from male to female], while I feel like that was more quickly explained in the anime.

whiskii, you're a Vivian Vande Velde fan? Awesome! Have you read her game series?

I've read User Unfriendly and Heir Apparent, but I only found out she did another one in that same universe recently. And now that I've got easy access to a library again, I've got some catching up to do! Anime hyper Actually, Heir Apparent was responsible for sparking my love of video games, which I'm currently pursuing a career in, so I owe a lot to it. I love revisiting that book every now and again! X3

The third one in the game series, Deadly Pink is probably my favorite, but I love Heir Apparent too. Very Happy And she just released a new book in January that's retelling "Little Red Riding Hood" from a bunch of different perspectives that can't wait to get my hands on!

Let me know what you think of Deadly Pink when you've read it!

and their are other differences from the anime towards the manga other than that. one of them is that in the review their is no instances that nyatta was there during the serara rescue arc. dont know if that was included in the LN , but its sure to poed those that are very nitpicky when the anime and/or manga is different from the LN

There are some differences, but nothing major - mostly just the order. Nyanta is there during the Serara rescue (as is her crush on him). I'm really looking forward to reading the novel when it comes out and seeing how all three compare.

Honestly, I thought the manga stood on its own (except for that damn font), but personally I always enjoy seeing how different versions of a story compare. Probably the folklorist in me. Smile
