Heh, Image Comics has been getting way more respect lately. First The Walking Dead, and now this.
I haven't read anything recent from Image Comics though. I got kind of annoyed with most of their line-up in the 90's and 00's being dark, gritty, and gory for the sake of being dark, gritty, and gory. Sounds like we're finally getting more stories that actually prioritize the story over atmosphere. |

I Kill Giants is a wonderful story. I'm glad it's getting the treatment it deserves. When people ask me what graphic novels to read to start getting into them I recommend 10 books. This being on of them.

During the 90s a lot of adult comic book readers started coming out of the closet. Since comics were consider to be things for children, more so than today. they made them dark and gritty, so they would seem mature. |

It's easier to mine award-winning graphic novels than comic series, but did anyone else first think that Hollywood producers wanted a quick substitute for not getting the rights to those other giant-killers?
(Chris Columbus was supposed to do an Americanized remake of Troll Hunter that never materialized, so this also feels like a quick replacement.) |

Awesome news for a very good book. Image has really come a LONG ways since the 90s. I think they are the most solidly creative comics coming out that are not superhero dependent or based on some popcultural franchise, They have tons of awesome storyteller/creators putting out some incredible books. My current Image pulls Saga, Five Ghosts, Chew, Manhattan Projects, Morning Glories, Revival, Manifest Destiny, Rat Queens, Alex +Ada, Oddly Normal, and The Autumnlands Tooth and Claw. Since Image began focusing more on graphic novel storytelling, they just put out TOO much good stuff, so I tend to wait for the series or first story arc to finish and invest in the graphic novel instead of the monthlies.
Image also prices their first volumes at a lower price vs the other big publishers to help you test out more titles. |

I have yet to read the story and we have it here. I think it might make a decent live action but I'd prefer a animated film instead. Preferably done by an international animation studio.

Finally, a Hollywood adaptation manga lovers can get behind. The book is very poignant and insightful, I hope they do it justice.

Congrats and good luck if Hollywood can adapt this into live-action (no whitewashing, and something that Hollywood can do not to anger the usual anime/manga fanbase).

Ah! I thought I was the only one who'd read "Morning Glories!" Although I've only really read the first part, since that was what was at my library... I really liked what I read, though! I recommend "Stitches" by... I wanna say David (?) Small. Really good stuff there. Anyway, I like indie comics, but I hadn't heard of this one; sounds like something I'd like. Heh, I certainly like the character design, at least what's on the cover. |

Saga is being published by image, it does have blood (It's a story in the middle of a war after all) and sex but is not violent and/or sexual in a 90's XTREMEEEE!! way. Chew is also really good. |

Chances of getting actual proper animated adaptions of comic books like manga gets is extremely low given the state of the western animation industry. Even for other "OEL American manga" like Scott Pilgrim. There's no market for it here, and I don't see why Japan would ever animate any of this stuff unless they get paid to like when Marvel hires them for their work. |
