Onechanbara?
I thought it was Microsoft exclusive game..
I guess this will make up for losing Bayonetta 2 to nintendo.
Looks like another dynasty warriors clone with M rating.

There are only 2 SK games on Xbox 360 as well as 1 on the Wii. All other games in the series have been for PS2, PSP, PS3, and now PS4 with this latest game.
It's a pretty niche series. It's significance isn't really comparable to Bayonetta.

Niche games don't have to sell well. The series already has multiple entries based on home country sales alone. Japanese companies generally don't mind selling games to niche markets.

female character kicking butts while in revealing outfits.
It's similar in a way
The final boss battle of Bayonetta was a bit awkward for me. Didn't expect for her to stay in that form for that long. I think there's an anime version of Bayonetta for those you did not play the 1st game
Bayonetta is a good game-- too bad it turned into a nintendo exclusive instead of multi platform.
I'm not going to buy a system for just 1 game (bayonetta 2). :/
*just checked a gameplay video of Onechanbara Z2 -- at the character select screen the girls have a leaf covering each of their nipple and bottom. :/
i take it back.. this game is at another level comparing to Bayonetta
great--- another game added to that #gamergate controversy crap

I actually really liked the one on the Wii since the motion controls kinda spiced the game up a bit, but I never was able to convince myself to get any of the other ones due to the lack of the Wiimote....

Well thats one way to warp your point as you fall over yourself in an attempt to glorify Japan.
Yes, they don't mind selling to niche audiences. Which dosen't mean it dosen't have to sell well. What a stupid comment. No, it has to sell enough to that built in market. Which means making a very cheap game and then crafting it excactly to that market's whims. It's the very definition of making a "product".
I see agenda ridden posters like you always make these twisted posts like this in an effort to make it seem how great Japan is over everyone else. "Oh see, they don't have to pander to everyone like mass market products in the west". As if somehow thats for some reason creatively better. As if it's still not simply making a product. When it actualty it's no better, just the inverse. Instead of making a product that's good for everyone, they simply make a product for that small group. Instead of limiting creativity because as you people try to claim "it has to fit everyone". They just as easily limit creativity because they have to things that pander to the specific built in audience.
But yes, keep it up with the unsubtle agenda posts.

The VorteX/Bikini Samurai Squad one was so bad - we only played it for the T&A! And even that wasn't that good. We still dunno how sales of that led to more series. Guess people really do "play" just for T&A, damn the game.

Back when I was thinking of importing this I held off only because it's an exclusive and the PS4 is hard up for exclusives, so it getting released here wasn't as farfetched as it would be otherwise. Of course, I also didn't import it because it's a two-hour long, dated hack-and-slash.

I watched a video review of one of these games not too long ago(can't exactly remember why); I'm quite surprised to see it make it over.

I'm going to call lolwut on this. A game made with a narrow demographic in mind is almost always going to be more reflective of its creators' vision simply by virtue of narrowness: if your vision doesn't match that demographic, you just retarget. If you aim for a broad audience, you pretty much have no choice but to start making compromises.

These things aren't artistic endeavors. They are things sold as products to a group that shells out money and is reliable. They are things by definition taking a low risk approach for easy money. They are as unambitious as possible. The series itself started out as nothing but budget games and even now is nothing but a budget game trying to earn money from audiences that eat this stuff up regardless of actual production values or quality.
They aren't inherently better, more creative, or whatever simply because they pander to a small fraudulence over a bigger one as posters like Staurt Smith always for whatever reason try to push into discussions.

I absolutely agree with you 100% that making a game for a certain audience doesn't necessarily make it better (or worse off course).
But you know what? I don't care . one bit. What's awesome is subjective. I am an otaku, I love all sorts of anime and games but also the otaku-centric ones. I love ecchi harem comedies and silly ones, I can't wait for the new season of yuru yuri. I love senran kagura. I absolutely completely adore hyperdimension neptunia especially now on steam (where it apparently sold really well btw! they're , thank god, also brining the other games to PC AFAIK).
If you don't like them; go play something else. I am 100% pro-choice; there should be games for all audiences and games for all sorts of specific sub-audiences. All of these have a place in the market.
But your likes and dislikes don't in any way whatsoever give you the right to tell me what to play or not. If you don't want to buy it fine, but I am gonna buy it, play it, and be very happy my purchase supports the series and the (lately every increasing, hooray!!) number of 'otaku niche games' on steam / in the west on other platforms. They're massively on the rice lately, and if me and friends keep buying them, it can only get better. D: No matter whether you like them or not, there have been more and more of them brought over lately and this is likely only going to increase, because we (otaku) are going to be buying these games. And no, we don't , and never will, let that be influenced by what other people like; that's called 'freedom of choice'.
So what *IS* going to happen whether you like it or not, due to simply market forces & as demonstrated by senran kagura, neptunia, this game, agarest, and it's sequal which was also recenlty released, etc. etc. etc.) is that it will simply become another subgenre deep-rooted in the overall market. HOORAY!
I also can''t wait for the next hyperdimension neptunia game to hit pc... sad you could't preorder the last one If I could I'd get a time machina just to skip to the day I can start playing it!
