While I'm happy Under the Dog was put on Kickstarter, I'm starting to think what they said about how it would not get funded through Japanese crowdfunding was a lie.

The folks backing this project seems really determined to see that the Spear of Longinus reach the Moon. I still have my doubts, but I'll be overwhelmed with sheer joy if the launch were to be successful one day.

What's next, a kickstarter to carve a gigantic heart on the moon with Renton/Eureka written inside it?

Yeah despite the tight budget from what I heard. |

That probably won't last very long considering that Katabuchi's film is over 11 million yen already.

I'm calling it now: the Eagle II is going to land next to this thing and the homage to "one small step for man" is going to be cut short by one giant faceplant for mankind.

Japan has the more interesting crowdfunding projects, maybe if they started crowdfunding a game for consoles and handhelds, I may toss some money to them as I'm not so sure forwarding services cover crowdfunded stuff just yet.

Me Three, sign me up! I realize the Spear is just an excuse to get funding to try to get the prize, but I think there could be something more useful they could do with the demo. I find the idea of a low-flying craft spray-painting "E-heart-R" across the moon's face strangely appealing and it would be relatively easy to do. Fund the first effort to deface a small planetoid and make your mark on history! Someone might even pony up really big bucks to put thier own message up there.... |
