MY friends have said that the leader of the Akatsuki is the 4th hokage because Orichimaru reserrected the 1st and 2nd Hokage during his fight against the 3rd Hokage during the Chunin exams, but there was an empty coffin out of the 3 that were reserrected which was said to be the 4th hokage's..but he manage to exscape some how...

But how can that be?

If thats so then wasn't Orichimaru apart of the Akatsuki way long before he reserrected the 3 coffins and fought the 3rd hokage during the Chunin Exam? So how can that be true?

explain someone....

COMPLETE RE-EDIT:

There was a fourth Hokage, but he was the Hokage who...spoiler[seald the Nine-Tails Fox inside Naruto's body. Apparently he was supposed to be similar to Naruto in appearance and personality.

After the fourth Hokage sacrificed himself to seal away the nine-Tails Fox, the Third Hokage, who was still alive, reassumed his position as Hokage.]

Tsunade is techinically the fifth Hokage.

I think that fans are just overanalyzing, the 4th died after sealing the Kyuubi, and won't be coming back to life. Kishimoto isn't like, say, Kubo - he doesn't make epic twists that cause half the fans to rise up in arms and the other half to gloat proudly and say "Heh, told you so." The 4th is a symbol of strength, unity, and courage within Konoha, and I don't think Kishimoto would screw around with his themes to induce some sort of fanservice-esque surprise betrayal.

If that was a reply to my comment I changed it, I haven't seen Naruto in a long time and had to do research on the subject and didn't thoroughly read through things.

The 4th, I believe, isn't coming back either (curse my lack of restrain of quoting sources), because he was about to be resurrected, meaning that he is dead. And not even Naruto aniverse can bring back the dead.

Hm? My reply was in response to the topic at hand, and the presented speculation: 4th = Akatsuki leader.

The theory is that the 4th never died in the first place and is now acting as the leader of Akatsuki. IIRC some time ago people starting piled "evidence" as to why this is the case, and the opposing side refuted just about all of them, the "4th=hokage" people disproved the disproof (how mostly every series-specific speculation debates work). I personally think it very unlikely that the 4th is still alive (my reasoning being that it's too ridiculous and Kishimoto wouldn't do such a thing), and (speaking as a non-manga reader) that there is no reasonable evidence to tie him to the Akatsuki even if he were.

I used to think AL's silhouette looked like Yondaime too, but have you guys seen his face yet? There's been only a few scanty glimpses in the manga, but he's got auburn hair, and a series of piercings along either side of his nose. Also, his facial structure and eyes look -nothing- like Yondaime's. I can't find one of the manga panels off-hand (there's some up on the Akatsuki Wikipedia page if you care to look) but here's some fanart that gives you a general idea of what he looks like:

See? No way that's the 4th.
