Well there really hasn't been a whole lot of new and special information regarding the film. The main reason that we haven't heard anything is because the movie has no Director... and still doesn't.
ADV was supposed to comment last year but never did. And now we're at a stalemate... |

The best place to look would be the actual site here. So I would suggest the little search engine at the top and type it in, or check the News section.

You might want to edit your topic title to be a little more descriptive than just "Scrapped". I thought this was going to be something about Scrapped Princess.

No problem. I agree with ManofRust, the title made me think of Scrapped princess first lol. I'd suggest changing the title to simply Evangelion Live Movie, that way it could encompass all aspects of the movie for people to discuss. On a personal note I doubt it's scrapped by the way. After all the talk about this movie if they did scrap it man would there be a lot of angry people. Then again, the DBZ movie is on indefinite hold so who knows. |

I think the world would be much better off without NGE and DBZ live action films, personally. I have very low expectations on Hollywood's abillity to interpret them properly, and I would rather due without more fuel for all the Evangellion whining that goes on. I'm just fed up with Eva Gushing/Hating/comparison to Title X threads in general really. On the other hand I'd probabally see them if they came out anyway reguardless....

While I am pretty sure DBZ was being done here I thought Evangelion was actually being produced in Japan and not here. Am I correct? |

NGE is getting new movies called Rebuild of Evangellion however these 4 planned films are not live action they are just animated like any other anime. The Live action film was just strictly a Hollywood (or rather an ADV helmed) idea while Rebuild of Evangellion is Japanese and a Hideki Anno project. They were trying to gather a crew togather for the project but so far have had no real success. There was just some CG pre production stuff out only from WETA who was supposedly doing the visual effects..

I see. I guess that makes sense considering most news I heard about the movie was through Newtype USA (which translates into ADV). While I know it is a milestone anime I'd personally prefer a live action Vampire Hunter D, Akira, or Patlabor movie. That's just me though. |

Hideki Anno has the first of the Rebuild films, which is a prequel by the way, set to come out sometime this year or next in Japan. Films two and three will be less confusing recaps of the series, and the fourth is said to be a sequel with more new material. At least that's the basics of what he said he wants to do with them, we'll have to wait and see.

The first film comes out later this year (October or around there), but its not a prequel. The first two films are reimakes of the TV series. Supposedly, it will more or less cover some of the early events of the TV series, but with some significant changes. For example, from what I recall, Kaoru is supposed to have a much bigger role. I don't remember exactly what the third and fourth films are supposed to be. I suppose the third film could as be a prequel of sorts. I believe the fourth film is supposed to be completely original material or close to it and will (obviously) be the new ending to everything. |

The ANN article runs contrary to that though.
