The Japanese music industry is horrifyingly "dirty" indeed. I've seen many singers and band members speak out about how they feel like toys for the production managers to a lot of their tours and promotional material. They rarely ever get to choose how they are marketed or how they act and they get tossed around contracts without their permission. If they don't sign the sheets, they get punished.
The only people I've seen truly work on their own with their own management have been people like Gackt, JAM Project, and Sound Horizon/Linked Horizon. They all manage their own projects and shows, but that's only because they have a crapton of money and fans. For musicians who rely on the industry, it seems pretty... miserable. |

Wait is this true?? Are we sure this isn't a disillusioned fan making this up and saying it's not true.
You're welcome ANN. But yeah, if Kyary's claim of not being happy with the Japanese entertainment industry is true, it wouldn't surprise me. The Japanese idol industry has problem.
I know I shouldn't be bringing up K-pop, but this is also a problem in K-pop too, do you guys know what slave contract is? Slave contract are pretty notorious in K-pop, and you may have heard of high-profile lawsuits like SM Entertainment (Korea's biggest K-pop agencies/labels) are guilty of this: SM Entertainment: A History of Scandals and Unhappy Idols, What’s Next? (well EXO's Luhan launched a lawsuit after that) SM Entertainment’s lawsuit history over ‘unfair contracts’ Has there been any high-profile lawsuit in Japan where J-pop idols wanted to terminate their contract against their labels/agencies because of their human right being violated, and slave contract? Because I read that slave contract may exist in Japan too, Namie Amuro's 22 years "slave contract" seem to verified this. |

I would take it with a pinch of salt definitely... but then again jpopasia didn't seem to give any sort of source. |

Arama Japan has also confirmed this. But still Kyary's statement about not being happy with the music/entertainment industry is still verified, and true. But here's the question: Has there been any high profile lawsuit/court battle between J-pop artists/idol member and the agencies/labels citing violation of the artists human right and slave contract? |

It's a problem with every entertainment industry. No media industry becomes big by being squeaky clean. Cutthroat contracts and marketing is how you get big.
If it's anything like Hollywood, maybe they want her to date someone more famous, or they're trying to market her love life like some kind of Brangelina thing. Being famous automaticlaly screws with your personal life. |

Well not all do like that. I know YG, JYP, Cube, and FNC Entertainment don't do slave contract. I'm not sure about the Chinese (and Taiwanese) entertainment industry.
Japan is pretty infamous for the no dating ban for their idols. I believe female idols in Japan suffer from it. |

Haven't heard of Hollywood interfering with anyone's love life, unless the other person has a bad history. If anything, thought they'd rather have her date someone not famous so as not to interfere with her work life. (The Brangelina is a paparazzi thing, not a work life thing.) |

@Enurtsol: I mention on my previous post about slave contract (which is very common in K-pop), beside Namie Amuro's 22 year slave contract, how common is slave contract in J-music/J-entertainment industry? Has there been any J-pop artists that faced similar situation to JYJ (the 3 former member of TVXQ)? Have you ever heard of high-profile lawsuit from J-pop artists/idols member that wanted to terminate their contract against their labels/agencies because and citing violation of their human rights, and slave contract?? The reason I ask is because I can't find anything online about if there was an epic lawsuit against J-labels/agencies from musicians/artists, I want to know if it exist.
If it does exist, then Japan's music/entertainment agencies are no better. |

The lack of privacy the article mentions, is that like creepy fans or management controlling her life? Either though is pretty terrible.

No her management is the one that are doing that, creepy fans invading pop idols privacy in Japan is very rare from what I heard. But still this doesn't surprise me. |
