Not digging the dub just based on that clip. Need to see more of it.

The voice seems pretty fitting.

Sounds a tad strained, but that could just be Usagi's VA not quite settled into the character yet. The comedy bit sounds spot-on, though. I was really worried they'd choose an older-sounding voice, but this sounds pretty good for a 14-year-old. Very Happy

Jury's still out on Mamoru, though. ^^;

Sounds good so far, but I'd need to hear more of it to say for certain.

Hay-ted it.

Both voices were bad. I was hoping they would find someone that sounded more like Mitsuishi did in later seasons, and this was not it.

Not buying the DVDs due to this horrible dub.

They've got Usagi down (the cute optimistic underachiever without the valley-girl), and she's back to "Bunhead", but Mamoru's good enough--
I'd still have to hear his Mask speeches and the other Senshi to judge, though.

This definitely seems like the "Dub for dub fans" corrected version of the old show, like when Pioneer did their own dub of the second Card Captor Sakura movie.

That was one of the few things I liked about the old dub. Sad

Stephanie Sheh is a perfect fit for Usagi.

It was decent enough. Mitsuishi's Usagi is annoying and high pitched, Stephanie Sheh's Usagi is annoying and high pitched. She really nails the teeth-grindingly immature nature of the character, though Mitsuishi gives her a bit more humanity. Sheh could grow into it more, but I'm guessing that's just what she'll do.

It's certainly better than the previous English dub of this, but then, so is stepping on a Lego brick barefoot.

Yeah, because that makes total sense. Nothing wrong with that that logic. Laughing

YEARS better than the DIC dub. I too like how 'bunhead' is closer to the JP 'odango atama'. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more of this.

Yeah the dub was pretty spot on and an excellent upgrade from the 90s. I saw the first 2 episodes at Anime Expo. Gurio Umino was hilarious! Loved his voice lol.

Yeah, but a "bunhead" could also be a perfectly acceptable term for a ballet student.
Usagi was definitely a "meatball head". Smile

Says the dubs should be up on Viz's site next Monday, but we'll have to wait a few weeks to hear any other voices besides Luna, Mom's and Umino's.

I think it's a good equivalent. Since the Japanese joke is meant to be a pun on an existing hairstyle, then it makes sense that, so too, would be the English joke.

I see your point, but 'odango' or おだんご being translated as bun is much more accurate and I approve.
