what is sword art online about exactly? I saw a promo on toonami that its a videogame and the people playing it are trapped I it and if they die in the game they die in real life, am I right?

Well the TV spot showed almost nothing. The first one was not very good but somehow I feel like I'm going to be that annoying person that just watches this show for guilty pleasure and to keep up with the conversation.
If it's actually a good show though then yay. Either way, they are making money so more power to them I guess? (despite potential misogyny) |

That's only the first arc. After that it becomes more of an anthology series focusing on several types of Virtual Reality MMORPGs, but featuring the same characters. |

They play a game called Sword Art Online when suddenly one guy shows up and tells them that he is the game creator and that they cannot leave the game. They try to leave but the log out button is no longer there. They are told that they can leave only if they will pass all 100 game floors and if they die in game they die IRL. So they finally spoiler[clear the game by killing the creator and from this point it becomes a shitty anime about playing various games.]
I recommend watching episodes 1-14, after that all the fun is gone and it's shit. spoiler[And they are still trying to beat all the levels cause the last time it ended before they were able to and now they will do that just for fun x.x They have this server seed sorta thing that they emulate the servers from.] The next anime will be about another game but this time instead of magic or swords they will have guns. I have very low hopes for this. |
